Unicef officials say they are concerned about a potential bird flu outbreak over the Cambodian New Year, after a provincial girl died in Kampong Cham province earlier this month.

The holiday is a time of travel for many Cambodians, and government health officials say so much movement could spread the disease.

In Kandal province Thursday, Cambodian families were happily eating grilled and deep fried chicken.

"I see that other chickens are infected with disease," one man who had just ordered chicken with his family told VOA . "I think Cambodian chickens are cooked.… I am still afraid, not that I don't care."
