PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, May 25 (Itar-Tass) - The captain of the Cambodian cargo ship Star Wind has been fined for almost $1,350 for illegally crossing the Russian border last March, the prosecutor’s office of the Kamchatka region told Itar-Tass on Friday.
The city court of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia’s Far East, found the Russian national Andrei Malyshev guilty on charges of illegal crossing of the Russian state border. Malyshev pleaded guilty and agreed to the charges.
Malyshev crossed the Russian Federation’s state border illegally and intentionally by steering the Star Wind from the Russian exclusive economic zone to territorial waters. The captain didn’t warn the Russian border service and didn’t have any permission to cross the border.
Russian border guards detained the ship belonging to the Panamanian fishing company on March 22. The ship’s crew consisted only of Russian nationals.
