Original report from Washington
16/05/2007
An outbreak of dengue fever in Ratanakkiri province sparked a nationwide campaign earlier this month, and the Ministry of Health has continued to warn people to cover containers and treat water that could be a breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitoes.
Dengue fever, transmitted by the Asian tiger mosquito, which has black stripes on its back, is most prevalent during the rainy season, which is in full swing across Cambodia. The mosquitoes breed in water containers, especially those stored above ground.
The Minsistry of Health recommended people use water treatment, such as Abate, to curb the spread of mosquito populations and reduce the risk of the disease, which is sometimes called break-bone fever or bone-crusher disease.
The ministry is conducting its campaign in at least six high-risk provinces: Kampot, Pursat, Battambang, Siem Reap, Bantey Meanchey and Svay Rieng.

Damn, how many times do I have to
tell the official to ban Ah Khmer-
Gringo band called "Dengue fever"?
There smart technology out there that can wipe out the fucken mosquito populations but AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave is not interested in the investment and this is the fucken reason why dirt poor Cambodian people still suffering from mosquito bite!
Yeah, if it is electrical, forget
about it. We are still working on
our power grid.
We, Cambodians, are very ashamed to have an uneducated prime minister like ah Hun Sen
Reporters have rights to ask any question to high-rank officials, either prime minister, in the world.
If ah Hun Sen (Kbal youn khloun Sat') told RFA reporters are insolent, so ah Hun Sen is very ILL-BRED and uneducated barbarian person
Come to think of it, I think the
problem with the mosquitoes could
have been from a decline in its
preditors such as fish, tadpole,
dragon fly lava, ..., or what have
we that consumed mosquito lava.
This is quite an interesting news
to me to see that we have an
excessive mosquetoes. When I was a
kid, my cousin used to send me to
the chinese shop to buy mosquito
lava to feed this fighter fish,
hehehe.
PS: Oh Damn, I forgot about the
expanded irrigations that we
created also. That is a good
breeding ground for mosquitoes.
I think we should find a way to
breed some preditors in there to
control the mosquito population.
