Good gesture and move.

But it is not the root of violence in Cambodia. Guns are served to apply human's reaction to the causes.

Guns can be imported or made when the human needs them again to serve the purpose.

It can be said we want to give fish and rice to hungry persons before they learn to feed themselves.

That is such a stupid question,
chicken and egg, but nonetheless,
this clearly show how crappy the
westerner's education is. Need I
say more? I mean no one is given
the capability to think for
themself. Instead, they have been
brainwashed and hypnotized to think
and believe in a particular
way and pattern. And the funny
thing of all is they think they can
teach khmer people things, hahaha,
LOL, hahaha... .

I think sometime, our government has done the stupid idea such as destroy all all guns and tools to protect our territory land...Hun Sen government should be serious with this.

There are two politics in this world: low and high politic. High politic is the use of militarism....but Cambodia is trying to weaken herself with all potentials of militarism...

However, it is good in this time to weaken militarism because Hun Sen himself is naturally militarized-dictator.

Yep, and those scrap metal aint
gonna help us protecting anything.
It will only help criminals to
victimize innocent people.

YES THAT IS A STUPID QUESTION, ISN'T IT PALS? WHATELSE,MAN?

THAT'S WHAT YOUR GREAT LEADER &FATHER, HUN SEN, SAID TO " RFA REPORTER" THE OTHER DAY.

LIKE FATHER LIKE SON, EH!!!!

The way we dispose of small arms and marijuana - destruction by fire - is a fantastic show to the outside world (donors). But it reflects extremism and violence in our society.

When we resort to fire to destroy such things, harmful as they are, we also use fire to destroy people's houses in order to evict them.

There are other ways - more peaceful - of disposing of harmful objects, for instance, by dismantling those rifles, using the butts as firewood and melting barrels to make pots, pans, plowshares, etc..., but not samurai swords, though.

It is really fade up with that kind of show. It was no doubt Khmer people's monies were spent for those guns. The debts to them could be still unpaid. The big question is why the government cannot even handle the storage of those guns. We might need them somtime in the future. Or they might think that they will get loans again when they want to buy new gun. Just feeling sad for the Khmers who will pay the prices for stupid debts by the stupid leader.

Another question is that they are going to reduce the armed violence. Ha ha ha... simply saying that if they don't know how to keep those weapons safely, it does mean that they don't have ability to eradicate the violence either.

What is the point you have built a big monument of tied-canon pistol in the heart of the capital (in front of Chrouy Changva bridge) when you have your people killed by guns almost everyday. It proves that it didn't work, it doesn't work, and it is not going to work. So do semething else that can work effectively.

Excellent point, Dr. Lao, I
wished, but unfortunately, I am
not aware of any steel foundry in
Cambodia. Do you?

According to one of a recent [former] officials of Kem Sokha, there are currently approximately 40,000 of special YUON agents in Cambodia. We [Khmer] should pile THEM up [sic] instead of those rusty riffles.

This is another political scene to show to the international community that "Cambodia is finally at peace!" How about those YUON special forces that are roaming everywhere in Cambodia and with all kind of weapons they are accessing to?

We have once again, given our swords away! Cambodia has been years and is continuing to be volnerable to YUON, at any given moment of time!

Dissagree, we need yuons agents
here to keep the peace. Otherwise,
Ah Khmer-Yuons will distroyed
Cambodia again as they did in the
70's.

Aside from that, judging from the
photo, the flame might not be hot
enough to melt the steel arms. It
might soften it, but that could be
reharden. I would throwed these
shits into corrosive agent instead.

To 9:42 AM Mr. Marty Hank!

I agree with you on this issue! Remember! Cambodia owed the fucken communist block over 3 billion dollars in buying those weapons and to see AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave burned these weapons will only give the fucken Vietcong and the Thaicong more confident to confront Cambodian people in the battle field!!!

If AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government can't even find a fucken way to store those weapons in a safe place then Cambodia has such a long way to find peace and stability!

I have been to Cambodia numerous times and each time I observed how these Cambodian people live and build their houses! To my surprise I found that each house is surrounded by tall sharp fences and barbwires!! What does this telling me? It tells me that Cambodia under AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave had never experience peace or stability and even in 2007!!!

For AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave to burn a few hundred guns and put up a big banner with a statement “THE FLAME OF PEACE” was purely a fucken show! It just a fucken show!

Noope, the sharp fences and the barbwire are for keeping your
greedy people away from their
property.
