Four children herding cows died and two were seriously injured when they picked up an unexploded B-40 launching grenade and hit it on a tree trunk. The resulting explosion killed four children. The Kampuchea Thmei newspaper reported that the incident took place at 5:30 PM on 06 May 2007, in a rice field located in Koh village, Lveng Russei commune, Chi Kreng district, Siem Reap province. The dead children are aged 11, 12, and 19. The report indicated that prior to the explosion, a group of 7 young cow herders brought their animals to graze near a rice field which used to be a major war front during the period of 1979 to 1998. The children then picked up an unexploded B-40 launching grenade, and they started taking it apart as a toy. One of the children then took the grenade and hit it on a tree trunk causing the explosion which killed 4 children and injured two.
