PHNOM PENH (AFP) - Some 3,000 Cambodians, including 500 who are HIV-positive, took to the streets Friday to demand better HIV/AIDS care in the country, hit hardest by the disease in Southeast Asia.

"We need better access to treatment. Most HIV-positive people still lack access to even cheap... treatment," said Kong Vanny, a 42-year-old woman, who was infected by her husband.

The crowd, including Buddhist monks, university students and government officials, also lit candles to mark Cambodia's annual AIDS Memorial Day at a central park in Phnom Penh.

"We hope this event will help raise awareness of HIV/AIDS among Cambodian people," said Hor Bunleng, undersecretary of state at the National AIDS Authority, a government body tasked with tackling HIV/AIDS.

While Cambodia has made strides in battling HIV/AIDS, and has successfully slowed its once-spiralling infection rate, the country still has the highest rate of HIV in Southeast Asia.

Some 1.9 percent of the population of 13.8 million are infected with the HIV virus, and relatively few have access to treatment.

Nearly 10,000 Cambodians die of AIDS-related illnesses every year, according to the government.

There had been millions and millions of dollars to help Cambodian people who got HIV positive. With all the money support from all over the world Cambodia got more than enough money to support hungry poor children and Hospitals.

By million dollars disappeared in the deepest pocket of the corruption society of Cambodia. Especially the government officials and doctors, hospital staffs had been stealing HIV drug from patients to sell for their deep pockets.

Lunches and dinners in Phnom Penh hospital are not enough nutrient because doctors and nurses are trying to sqeese dollars for themselves.

Donors should be asking about how the hospitals in Cambodia taking care their patients.

That is why we should stay away from
Hollywood and porn craps, but no,
we have to adopt the evil culture to
move forward. And now that you

complaining. The devil can fixed

9:25 PM. Are you OK? The previous poster addressed the concern that the support (money) from outsiders to help these victims are never gone to those victims but to only to those high and powerful of organized crimes (mafia familes) only. And your rebuttal is to let those victims die by just keeping the money helped from outsiders for your self and your oganized crimes.

How dangerous it can be when the organized crimes (CPP) rule the country. Not only that your organized crimes will be stopped from spreading the disease into around the world.

We will make a deal with Yuan Hanoi to not allowing the thugs Hun Sen and his terrorist groups to spread their terrorist activities.

Fluke's Boy, as I said all along,
there are more vultures in a poor
country than a rich country. That
is why you should never followed
westerner's foot steps unless
all conditions are the same. And
obviously, these idiots have been
brainwashed by Ah Sam Nazi who
promotes westerner's culture
to them and got them in to this
mess. Thus, they should work it
out with Ah Sam Nazi for solution.
Isn't that fair?
