Addressing a growing crisis in Cambodia's health sector, officials from Kampong Cham province have been struggling to educate doctors and pharmacists on spotting fake medicine, which are at best ineffective and at worst lethal.
Kampong Cham Health Clinic Deputy Chief Chheang Sena, who is in charge of fighting against the use of fake medicines, said he has educated more than 1,000 officials and laymen in 11 sessions.
"The first step is to implement the law governing medicines, [then] to educate the people so they know about the law...including the governance of fake medicine, expired medicine [and] poor-quality medicine, so that they understand," he said.

Oh no, you don't! Put the stupid
fake drug law on the queue for
now. It is time to wrap up the
anti-corruption laws. Otherwise,
we'll never hear the end of it.
Furthermore, no fake drug laws is
gonna help if people can easily be
motivated by the high profit
margin. Therefore, first think
first. Okay?
I found that Ministry of health in Phnom Penh has tried to fight with these fake medecines since 1995 but has still faile to get ridge of these medecines. Most fighters are medical professionals. But the people who have supported to bring these medecines were from Prime Minister who has given full right to Duang Chhiv ( a spirit import company ) to supply fake medecines from India to all public hospitals, from former Mayor of Phom Penh to allow Vietnamese smugglers to bring fake medecines to sell all over Olympic Market. How can ministry of health implementing their laws when there are many interventions from powerfull men and women for tehir friends to supply fake ones? Who dare to arrest them? Areak Prey
Well, that is another good reason
why we shouldn't allowed such a
tough case to keep us from knocking
out our anti-corruption laws
first. This is no different from
taking any college examination.
You try to do whatever you can
handle first, then you used the
remaining time for the toughest
question. That way, you will get
maximum credits for the exam.
