Kem Sokha, the rights advocate turned politician, was a guest on "Hello VOA" Monday, where he discussed his new Human Rights Party and the 2008 national elections.

Kem Sokha has been traveling in the United States to gain support for his emerging opposition party, which formed, he said, from the ideas of many, not just himself.

The Human Rights Party will act like a small democracy, with three branches: legislative, executive and "disciplinary," he said. The leader has term limits, must be elected and lacks centralized power. His decisions must be approved by the other branches.

He said the Cambodian people's search for a true party led to the formation of the Human Rights Party.

The Sam Rainsy Party remains the only opposition party with seats in parliament, and it is unclear if Kem Sokha will join a united democracy coalition with the opposition or strike out on his own.

Callers Monday said they were concerned the democratic movement in the country would break if the parties did not cooperate.

Mr. Kem seems to be honest about his ideas of his new Party. He wants democratic changes in Cambodia. However he forgets that to have all those long overdue changes possible only if another party beside CPP run the country. If he doesn't want to join the so-called "democratic" movement, I can garantee him that he will not see those democratic changes in his life time.... The only thing he can achieve is help the CPP stay in power...

Nope, we are not overdue to change
and walk backwad to Ground Zero
like we were doing in the 70's. We
plan to move forward with
our "Rectangular Strategy" that
have been proven improve the life-
style for millions over the years.

And if you're going to competete
with us, first, you all need to
joing the HRP; then, you needed
to create some jobs, and you will
also need to disclose your strategy
to the public. Otherwise, you are
wasting everyone times and money
to try to defeat us with just
lipservice and empty handed.

I can observe the planning of CPP to nominate someone to destroy opposition party's stronghold in foreign countries or oversea Cambodians. When Funcipec is falling down, huge voice of support come to embrace SRP, so with this alternative CPP is enjoyful to support Sokha to seperate strong voice of oversea Khmers in abroad.

His speech is VOA is a lie because the oversea Cambodians have already strongly embraced SRP and Sokha can have this chance because of those SRP's representatives organized for him.

I can hear the fake speech of Kem Sokha through VOA and the huge amount of money he mentioned is actually not from oversea Cambodians...so the question is that "where those huge money are from?". If we look back to Sokha's background, we can see that he graduated from Communist Country and he seem neglected the failing down of Son San's party....so what is he doing now?

More than this, his new policy and propaganda is critically targetting SRP, not CPP. This strategy, Communist VN and CPP can win their opponents easily without using much intellectual or energy.

If Sokha is really needing to win Communist Regime, he should suggest the possibility of unity with all democrates rather than the using of sarcasm and seperating word to destroy the same voice of democracy.

His words are rhetorical for the next CPP's leader....this is my prediction!

Well, Sokha is hoping to lead
all the little parties to victory
in the 2008's election. I hope
the SRP will join with Sokha
leadership instead of stealing
votes from him.

No, he did not lie. You do. Not many Khmer oversea embrace SRP, only a few if you compare to the percentage of khmer oversea. For example, Long Beach CA-USA has a lot of Khmers about 50,000 to 70,000 but SRP has less than 20 members or supporters in that city. The big oversea supporter area or the main income of SRP is Stockton, CA which has about 25 supporters total.

All khmer oversea who are now supporting Sokha are not SRP's prepresentatives. Please stop lie.

11:20PM,
All what I am saying is true because I have been organizing for Sokha when he was released from prison. The case of CA is different from Takhoma, WA in which considered as second largest Cambodian community in NA.

You can know how much SRP got support for commune election from oversea Khmers....

Sokha starts with nothing and will destroy only the unity of democrates.
