Norodom Sihanouk gave $1,000 in donation to the parents of Born Samnang and Sok Sam Oeun, who are currently jailed for the murder of unionist Chea Vichea. Several NGO representatives claimed that the two are innocent.

King-Father offered $1,000 in donation to the parents of Born Samnang and Sok Sam Oeun, who were sentenced to 20-year of jail for the murder of union leader Chea Vichea on 22 January 2004. Even though the innocence the two men were claimed by numerous civil society representatives, who also deplore the lack of guilty proof against the two, their sentence was upheld on 12 April by the appeal court. This latter sentence again raised numerous criticisms from several local and international human rights organizations. “Myself, I find that Messrs Sok Sam Oeun and Born Samnang are not the true assassins. My private advisor told me that this case was very complicated. I ask you to excuse me. I am retired and I regret that I have neither the power nor the possibility to come to your help in this affair,” Norodom Sihanouk wrote to the parents of the two prisoners.

THis two innocenses should be paid a lot more monies for their innocense victim. US$ 1000 each from Sihanouk is nothing because they have suffered too much. Sihanouk is a moha virak Skat. But he cannot help two innocenses citizen from suffering in their own country. What moha virak skat means if he is a powerless??????? Areak Prey

Wrong, there is no proof of they're
innocent, and even if they are
innocent of the charge, they are
still guilty of contempt with our
court. This alone should be good
for a year behind bars without
visitation right or any other
rights whasoever.

What is this stupid king try to show?

I don't think it's wrong of the king to do such a thing. Instead, I think he is right to do this. Under the law, the king father cannot do anything even if he thinks the two guys are innocent. They must be proven innocent first. But by giving this sum of money to the family of the murderers, he is telling everyone in Cambodia that he thinks the two men is innocent even if the courts have not proven otherwise.
Would you give money to people guilty of murder or would you give you money to those you think were framed?
Don't look at the things on the surface. Things aren't what they always seem.

Wrong, the court don't render
verdict based on what somdach Euv
finding. They have found the two
men guilty and sentence them to 20
years prison. Now, if you have a
new discovery that show that they
are innocent, you must submitted
to the court. As I have said
before, the court wish not to
imprison anyone. They preferred
people be out working to produce
tax revenue to pay the court
salary. Get it?

So why are you not happy with our
court? We are not willing to
release any criminal that could
potentially harms any of our
citizen without a solid proof.
Is that too much to ask?

We, Cambodians, are very ashamed to have an uneducated prime minister like ah Hun Sen

Reporters have rights to ask any question to high-rank officials, either prime minister, in the world.

If ah Hun Sen (Kbal youn khloun Sat') told RFA reporters are insolent, so ah Hun Sen is very ILL-BRED and uneducated barbarian person
