ASEAN Corrects Cambodian Land Area Error

Heng Reaksmey, VOA Khmer

The Asean secretariat has agreed to correct a Web site posting of Cambodia's land area that had shaved off 35 square kilometers.

Cambodia is sensitive about its territory, and in a recent letter to Cambodian parliamentarians, the Asean Secretary-General Ong Keng Yong said the error would be fixed.

But Sam Rainsy Party lawmaker Son Chhay said this was not enough. The opposition parliamentarian said he suspects the 35 square kilometers were omitted purposefully by another Asean member and has asked for an explanation.
