Report links Cambodian leaders to logging

Australian Broadcasting Corporation

Global Witness is accusing Cambodia's government of censoring its report on corruption in Cambodia accusing the country's political elite of illegally plundering the kingdom's forests.

The London-based environmental group, which released the report on June 1, also condemned threats of violence against its staff that it claims have been made by Prime Minister Hun Sen's brother.

The report alleges the country's most powerful illegal logging syndicate, the Seng Keang Company, is controlled by people related to Hun Sen.

The agriculture, forestry and fisheries minister and forest administration director are also implicated for their alleged role in robbing the country of tens of millions of dollars in natural resources.

The report has enraged government officials, who call it "fiction," and prompted the information ministry to ban it.

GW should be grateful that Hun Neng only said that he would "beat them up until the heads split". He could have said "Prepare your coffins".

It's a typical reaction from a Mafia family. They are educated for that.

I have read the GW report with less interest; however, I am cogently convinced that the GW report is frivolously baseless based on the authencity of the report.

Moreover, the government of the Kingdom of Cambodia should have every reason to laugh at the recent report in an exculpary manner.

You blame GW because you think only about your personal interest or simply because you are CPP or CPP off-springs.
