An advocacy group for the Khmer Kampuchea Krom, a highly politicized ethnic group in Cambodia and Vietnam, joined a peace march in San Francisco Sunday, protesting the US visit of Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet.

Rights groups say the Kampuchea Krom and other minority groups face oppression and abuse in the communist country.

"The Vietnamese government has empowered their authorities and its people to inhumanely treat the Khmer Krom people and to destroy ancient Buddhist temples and seize their lands and homes," said Thach N. Thach, president of the US-based Khmer Kampuchea Krom Federation.
