Muth Chantha said that the appeal is one way to legally resolve against the sentence handed down by the Phnom Penh municipal court. Muth Chantha said that if the appeal court finds that the Phnom Penh municipal court decision is wrong, then it can void the sentence, however, if the appeal court maintain the sentence handed down by the Phnom Penh municipal court, then this could lead to a request for pardon from the king.
