Son Chhay discusses (Global Witness) illegal logging report

The Chairman of the National Assembly committee in charge of information said today that Global Witness’ revelation of severe illegal logging by a group of powerful people is nothing new.

MP Son Chhay said that, in the past, his committee had requested clarifications from government ministers and the ministries involved, about the illegal logging activities conducted in the province of Kompong Thom also, but in general, no response was ever provided to his committee.

Based on his three terms experience as MP, Son Chhay said that the reason the government did not provide any clarification was because: “Most likely, (on illegal logging), that is why there was no response on the activities involving all these perpetrators. Now, we see the publication of Global Witness (report), this is not different from (what our committee raised in the past), this is an admission of the truthbut Global Witness shows more proofs, and they also showed the intricate business operation of this network group which is difficult to counter against. The reaction of the government is not appropriate, the government should reply back to Global Witness, rather than ordering a ban like this, simply because when the information is already on the net, anybody can download it anytime they want.”

Son Chhay also said that the confiscation of Global Witness reports is an illegal act.

Son Chhay added: “The ban order issued by the Ministry of Information is an illegal ban, because, as we already know, our constitution discusses about the right to receive information, and neither the information distribution law, nor any other legal documents stipulate any such ban on the distribution (of information). In the name of our committee, we are puzzled and, maybe, today, we will discuss among members of our committee to decide whether to invite the minister (of information) to come and clarify this ban issue.”

Everyone in Cambodia khnow very well that the person mentioned in GW reports have been part of large Mafia net.
In particiular Hun TO, Hun Choch and Sat Soeun were notorious hooligans spreading terror in Konpong Cham province in the Year 1980's and 90's.
Why these guys become millionnaires now? They are not self-made men. They are Hun Sen- made men or Hun Sen's influence-made men.
The bad reputation of these guys and their family& friends will remain for ever in the mind of Kompong Cham people and in the History of Cambodia..... like the Family of Lok Machas in Battambang.

Hun TO barely escape the death traps a couple of times because of his gangster behavior. Majority of Kampong Cham citizens wish him to be dead daily. Since his father is the privince governor, this thug is counducting his behavior above the law. There has been reports that he got shot and car accidents, but did not die. His time is coming soon.

No way, Jose (11:43), everyone
wants Hun Sen to rule Cambodia
until his last breath, which is
about 60 years from now. The one
that people wishes dead every
moment is Ah Sam Nazi and his clan
(SRP or Super Retarted People).

You call him Sam Nazy. And who are you? One of the corrupt CPP official or one of their off-spring?
You are not lucky being a CPP affiliated person. You are dead fish!

want any khmer to learn that from
him.
