Prince Sisowath Sirirath, the 2nd vice-president of Funcinpec, told RFA on Wednesday that negotiations or plan to invite Prince Ranariddh to return as party president have all ended because of the declaration made by the NRP spokesman to close the door on this issue. Prince Sirirath said: “Funcinpec had decided on 17 July that there is no need to keep contact with Prince Ranaraiddh anymore. There will be no contact, no talking anymore on the issue of Prince Ranariddh, we will stop commenting, we will stop talking.” In reaction to Sirirath’s claim, Muth Chantha, NRP spokesman, said that his party also decided to close the door to negotiations after the NRP saw that Funcinpec was using tricks during these past unofficial negotiations to gain benefit from the NRP.
