Traveler: Dannielle Kim, Foster City

I went because: I wanted to see Angkor Wat and other temple wonders of the world. It was highly recommended by friends, and if you're already in Southeast Asia, it's worth dropping by.

Don't miss: The hidden temple. Travelers usually don't know about this site, but the local guides would know. You will need to rent a taxi to drive out of the city.

Don't bother: Floating village. It will be better to check this village out during the rainy season (June-September).

Coolest souvenir: Palm sugar. Locals make this treat by evaporating water from the palm juice. The candy is the size of a Hershey's kiss.

Worth a splurge: Food and fruits. Cambodia has some of the most exotic fruits. Try them all -- mangosteen, jackfruit, betel nut, star fruit and more.

I wish I'd packed: A hat with a wide rim or a cap. The sun in Cambodia is especially hot. It'll be nice to have some shade over your face as you're touring the temples.
