Dr Long Siem, a parliament professor, vice-president of the Cambodian parliament academy and president of the national language institute passed away on Sunday 15 July 2007 at 8:15 AM at the age of 72. He died of disease. Dr Long Siem is known for his Russian-Cambodian and Cambodian-Russian dictionary which he authored in the mid-60s. Sum Manit, a facilitator at the Cambodian institute of international relations of the parliament institute attached to the Council of Ministers, said in a letter issued on Monday, that Long Siem’s family is mourning his death, and that the loss of H.E. Dr Professor Long Siem is a loss of a renown scholar for the Cambodian parliament academy, as well as for Cambodia. H.E. Dr Professor Long Siem is a known scholar recognized by all national and international intellectuals, and by the general population, He is well known for his language expertise and no one can compare to him.
