Cambodia will adhere to its one-China policy, continuing to oppose any move by Taiwan for independence or UN recognition, foreign affairs officials said Wednesday.
Foreign Affairs Minister Hor Namhong said in a statement that Cambodia's UN ambassador should seek to oppose Taiwan's moves for recognition, following a meeting between the minister and Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jinfeng.
The UN Monday denied a Taiwanese request for recognition, maintaining that Beijing is the only representative of China.
Cambodia will also raise the issue at the next meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Hor Namhong said, as Taiwan's continued insistence to be independent of China destabilizes the region.
China considers Taiwan a renegade province, and Cambodia supports the Chinese position. China is a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
A 1971 resolution recognizing Beijing over Taipei prevents Taiwan's membership into the world body, the UN office of legal affairs said, according to the Associated Press.
President Chen Shui Bian has vowed to continue to push for UN recognition.

CPP has committed themselve to one of their most perfect policy is to recognise" ONE CHINA POLICY ".
THis One China Policy is not only being recognised by CPP but by almost 99% of the legal countries on earth which included USA, France, British, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India. There are only 3 small islands states who are still recognising Taiwan for the monies Taiwan Government would give to them each year around 6 millions to 10 millions dollars. Any political party which are still in doubt of this policy will find no where to rule Cambodia as a Government.
China has been ruled by Munchury Empeuror since 1665 till 1911. From 1911-1932, China has been divided by world superpower of that time into blocks of domination and controled by war lord. From 1932-1949, Munchury has re-established as a New independent State in South East of China. China was bombarded by war between Kok Ming Tang of Chi Kai Cheek and Communist of Mao Ste Tung.
From 1949-1966 China has been peace and controle by communist Mao Ste Tung and was on the progress to re-build the country.
1949-1950 China has full controled in Manchukuo independent State.
1966-1972 China was controled by Qang Qing and Liam Piav to destroy all good reformers like Chou En Lai, Li Zao Ji, Song Ching Ling, Chen Yi, Deng Xiao Ping etc.. and etc....
From 1972-1977, China was controled by gang of four to continue to destroy China academic, intellectual personal.
Therefore from 1665-1978, China was in turmoil and was dominated by foreigner except 1949-1966 which CHina was in isolation from international communities.
From 1978-2007, China has her full peacefull development. Now China has become the world No in economic and politic. Therefore, China will not allow their satelite province of Taiwan to be independent and China has treated Taiwan as a sensible issue if this island want to declare independent from China. So far this province has received a lot of economic Assistance from China. More than one millions entrepreneurs from Taiwan have enjoyed their benefits from establlished their businesses in China in areas of Dongkoan of Guangdong, Khunshan of Shanghai and Wunzhou of Jerjaing. Each Chinese in China has enjoyed their new life with good foods, good clothing, good educations and good transport system than any country in the world. Each citizen has enjoyed their freedom to travel and to develop their family life with their full potential. Only the frog in the well who cannot see this way.
