The Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR) officially asked the Vietnamese government to release Monk Tim Sakhorn and hand him back to Cambodia.

CCHR sent a letter dated 03 August to the Vietnamese ambassador in Cambodia, indicating that the arrest of Monk Tim Sakhorn in Cambodia by the Vietnamese authority is a serious violation of the rights of the former abbot of the Phnom Den North pagoda located in Takeo province, and that this act is also a violation on the Cambodian territory, as well as a violation on the Cambodian legal system.

On Thursday, the Vietnamese embassy in Cambodia informed CCHR that Monk Tim Sakhorn is currently being temporarily jailed in Vietnam where he is charged with illegal entry into Vietnam, and creating unrest by undermining the friendship between Cambodia and Vietnam. On 30 June 2007, the Cambodian authority defrocked Monk Tim Sakhorn by force and sent him back to Kampuchea Krom (South Vietnam) while claiming that the monk asked to return back to live in his native village.

CCHR considers this as an irregularity perpetrated against Monk Tim Sakhorn, and that this constitutes an additional violation of the rights of the monk. In this case, the government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam must be held responsible, and that only when the family of Monk Tim Sakhorn and representatives of human rights protection organizations can meet him directly, then Vietnam indeed showed that it protects the monk’s safety and that no additional violations have been imposed on him.

I don't why it took so long for the CCHR to response? All opposition parties in Cambodia should pressure Vietnam to handover Monk Tim Sakhorn immediately. Vietnam had no rights to enter Cambodia territory and arrested its citizens, for whatever reasons.

The Vietcong need to return Tim Sakhorn back to Cambodia as soon as possible! The act of kidnapping Cambodian citizen to put in the Vietcong jail is a terrorist act and it is unacceptable under Cambodian constitution and it is unacceptable in the eye of international community and the terrorist act of the Vietcong must be condemned to the fullest!

THIS IS ANOTHER LEBANON WHERE SYRIA'S INFLUENCE ON LEBANON'S INTERNAL AFFAIRS BUT THE WORLD KNOW ABOUT IT.

WITH VIETNAM'S INTERFERENCE ON CAMBODIA IS LONG OVERDUE AND THE WEST HARDLY KNOW ABOUT IT.

THIS IS THE TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE THAT VIETNAM IS AGREEING TO BORDERS DEMARCATION BETWEEN CAMBODIA AND VIETNAM, BUT AT THE SAME TIME VIETNAM CONTINUES TO CROSS THE BORDERS INTO CAMBODIA TO ARREST CAMBODIAN CITIZENS.

THIS IS CLEARLY THE RULE OF LAW ONLY WORKS IN YUONS(VIETNAMESE)'S FAVOUR, AND NOT OTHERWISE. AND ALL RULES ARE SUBJECTED TO CHANGE FOR VIETNAM'S INTERESTS---THE FRENDSHIP AND GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH NEIGHBOURS THAT VIETNAM IS SEEKING IS WHEN ALL THINGS AND MATTERS ARE IN VIET(YUONS)' CONTROL AND YUONS ARE THE MASTERS OF KHMER AND LAO (SO FAR!!!)

Vietnam has violated international sovereignty law by outright arresting Monk Tim Sokhorn in Cambodia. Not only do we need opposition party, but more outside international NGO groups to pressure Vietnam. If one international news station can pick up on the story, maybe the BBC, it would help pressure Vietnam to release him.
