A CPP official said, on Tuesday, that about 600 Funcinpec party members defected to the CPP during a ceremony held in Pursat province, presided by Suy Sem, the chairman of the working group helping the Pursat province and minister of industry, mining and energy. Nouv Sovathero, Funcinpec spokesman, declined to comment on this issue, saying only that this public declaration could be psychological warfare.

They left FUNCINPEC because they were told they would lose their government jobs if they did not join the CPP, and FUNCINPEC can no longer guarantee those jobs. Questions anyone?
