A foreign land developer who allegedly bilked dozens of victims out of money for villas has fled the country, Prime Minsiter Hun Sen announced Monday.

Long Chhin, who allegedly built villas on land that belonged to the government, has taken the money and fled, Hun Sen announced at a public conference in the capital.

The government had meant to allow fill and development on 10 hectares of land in the Kab Srew lake area north of Phnom Penh, but Long Chhin built villas on up to hundreds of hectares. He sold the villas and fled when the government moved to take the land back.

The government has since destroyed the villas, leaving those who bought them without their money or new homes.

"In the end Long Chhin disappeared, and his whereabouts are unknown," Hun Sen said. "Long Chhin took big land, as big as the sky."

Hun Sen has been fighting the public perception that land grabbing and theft are on the rise. The land-theft issue has become a political flashpoint, as Cambodia heads into national elections next year.

Opposition legislator Son Chhay called the government's efforts to stop Long Chhin's crime weak, claiming his company's bank was protected while he was living in Cambodia and no efforts were made to keep him in the country.

Kek Galabru, founder of the rights group Licadho, said Long Chhin's company should compensate the people. Or the government.

"The company's owner fled," she said. "No one compensated the people. So the government demolished the constructions that the people already paid for. I believe that the government should have compassion for the people. They should not lose money."

In most civilised Nations, if there is a problem like Long Chhin case, No way, Hun Sen is allowed to stay a Prime Minister. He must resign for his incompetency and his weekness in dealing with this issue. In Cambodia, most big business dealing were being made by Hun sen and his cronies. But in western countries, all government officials have no right to dealt business. They must leave all businesses actvities to be handled by business communities. Government offcials and government department at all level can only observe and can only issue certificate of compliance if all businesses actvities, all constructions are complied with the laws and rules. They cannot make any cents for their own interest. But if there is a problem like that, any leader, any officials who has failed to get thing right, must have to resign.
We have one problem in New Zealand, where many houses were built by master builders with cities councils permits. There were some houses who were leeked. THe minister in charge of local government has to resign for his negligence even he has no power to see around those houses. Competency is very important for a leader. If he has found himself incompetence, he must resign. We must congratulate to Long Chhin company who can survive from these hungry sharks and hungry crocodiles in Cambodia. Hun Sen is ways ways ways, stupid than Long Chhin boss.

Long Chhin is a crook and cheat innocent cambodian people out of their savings. Now Hun Sen let him go quietly to make sure he left the country safely. After that he announced Long Chhin is a crook, but whose is a real crook, Hun Sen himself. Why Hun Sen let the guy build it in the first place, then claimed the chinese guy built it illigally? Long Chhin might not pay enough royal fee to Hun Sen and his family. When you deal with the dictatorship, that's what happens, Folks.

Now Hun Sen voices and outcries in the public that land grabbing is wrong, wait until election 2008 finished, the cycle of land grabbing will be continued as promised by Hun Sen.

This is to prove that People who has no schooling cannot compare himself with a good schooling people. hun sen needs to learn more from Vietcong before he can compare himself to Long Chhin. A monky is alway a monky. this monky can only destroy lives of people who lived near his forests.

Hun Xen will not have any headache for What he has done wrong. He is very happy when he can turn the wrong to right. Hun Sen and Long chin are the same person sucking the blood of Khmers. Hun Sen Knew that what Long Chin was doing was illegal from the very begining, but he did not stop him. When time come Hun Xen sucks the blood, and spit the blood on the other. This is how the blood sucker Hun Sen always does.
