Ly Vuoch Leng removed from her position as President of the Appeals Court

Ly Vuoch Leng was removed from her position as president of the Appeals Court through a decree signed by King Sihamoni on 09 August 2007. Replacing her is You Bun Leng, the current KR Tribunal co-investigating judge. Ang Vong Vathana, the minister of justice, told The Cambodia Daily that Ly Vuoch Leng was removed from her position because she was involved in corruption regarding human trafficking conducted at the Chhay Hour II hotel. With the removal of Ly Vuoch leng, the Kampuchea Thmei newspaper reported that an old man was also arrested by the police for bribing court officials in order to obtain the release of criminals. The report indicated that the man is directly involved with Ly Vuoch Leng. Chhun Poch was arrest by the police on 11 August morning and sent to the Phnom Penh municipal court for questioning about the bribing for the release of Te Por Ly, the owner of the Chhay Hour II hotel, and Sam Leng, the manager of the hotel, from their current temporary incarceration.

KI-Media note: The Cambodia Daily reported also that Chhun Poch is Te Por Ly’s father. Chhun Poch allegedly gave $30,000 to the Appeals Court officials for the reslease of his son.
