Police crack international human-smuggling ring, nab 5 Chinese

Taipei - Taiwan and US police have cracked an international criminal ring that helped nearly 100 mainland Chinese enter the United States and other countries, two Taiwan newspapers reported Sunday.
According to the China Times and the Liberty Times, the crime ring was made up of Taiwan and Chinese travel agents and airline ground staff at Hong Kong International Airport.
Five Chinese tourists arrived Friday at Taoyuan International Airport near Taipei on board Eva Air flight ER266 from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to continue to Hong Kong aboard ER1851. But they vanished from the transit area, triggering suspicions that they had flown to another country using falsified passports.
Taiwan police alerted Hong Kong, US and Canadian immigration authorities. The five Chinese were arrested as they arrived Saturday at Los Angeles International Airport.
Taiwan and US police have cracked the ring that helped the five Chinese get to the United States using counterfeit Taiwan passports.
The ring recruited mainlanders who wanted to illegally enter the US, Canada and other countries, and sold them Taiwan passports already stamped with US or other countries' forged visas. The price for a falsified Taiwan passport was 60,000 US dollars.
The ring would arrange for the mainlanders to go on a sightseeing trip in South-East Asia with a transit stop at Taoyuan International Airport.
While the mainland 'tourists' were waiting in the transit area at Taoyuan Airport, Taiwan ring members would give them falsified Taiwan passports as well as tickets and boarding passes for a flight to the US or Canada.
The passports are stolen Taiwan passports with the passport owners' photographs replaced with photos of the mainland Chinese.
It is easier to sneak into the US or Canada with a Taiwan passport than a Chinese passport, as there are more mainland Chinese than Taiwanese seeking to enter North America illegally.
The China Times reported that in recent months, the criminal ring had helped nearly 100 mainland Chinese to enter the Canada, Mexico and the US including Guam and Hawaii, using falsified Taiwan passports.

My ancestors came from South China in the Year 1930's, fleeing famine and civil war. Most of all migrant Chineses at that time were men. They took the old boat from China coast, wearing old clothes, eating insufficiently daily food and settled mostly in rural areas in Cambodia. They got married with local people, worked hard and also exploited Khmer farmers. They gave off-springs that became Khmer citizens.
The current Chinese migrants are different from our Chinese ancestors. They came by plane, well dressed and well fed. Many of them are suspicious people who are well connected with corrupt officials and with Maffia.
We are not talking about Chinese that migrated to Cambodia a 100 years ago. We are more concern with nowaday. Hok Lundy is big corruption. He took alot of money from those new Chinese comer. Thats why when Chea Sophara arrest them, Hok Lundy wasn't happy and ask HUN SEN to remove Chea Sophara. I wish this CPP dogs bite each other soon and think about national concern.
