Samdach Chea Sim, Senate president, received an honorary Ph.D. in integration science(?) development philosophy from Thailand’s Ubon Rajathanee University (UBU) in the morning of 27 September, in Phnom Penh city. The Ph.D. was bestowed on Samdach Chea Sim after the UBU closely followed the political life and the action to serve to the nation and Cambodian people, and the UBU observed Chea Sim’s achievement in his participation to free Cambodia from the genocidal (Khmer Rouge) regime, and his leadership role in pulling up the society and bringing the current development in all fields. Chea Sim declared that the bestowing of this PhD to him is a great honor that he considers it as an honor for the common achievements by all of us.

This university has given PhD for Chea Sim so that they can be his advisor and be able to traffick drugs like Oum Chhay too. Only CPP leaders who have never attended to any school anywhere on earth are very excited to receive these kind of PhD. Why they don't present these PhD to Thailand King for protecting their country for peace in the last 60 years? It will treat an insult isn'it?

It's an Honorary PHD, not a PHD. It's just something every university gives out to people who gives a speech or make a large donation to the university. It means nothing more than that. Only people with little or no education think it's important.

Sure 3:12, maybe you can get an honorary PhD in the west by donation, but here you must complete some special project or actually accomplished something such as accomplish peace in the region, outstanding economy,.... This is a bit like what you called your Nobel Prize in the west, except that Nobel prize winners is mostly fake. A good example of this is when your former Prez. Carter got the Nobel Prize for creating Peace in the Middle East. However, you know fair well that there has not been any peace in the middle east since God know when. Henry Kissinger received numerous honorary PHD's and even Nobel Peace Prize. He was the mastermind of the Cambodian bombing campaign that killed a million Cambodian people and created the conditions for Pot Pot's takeover. Cambodians don't complain because they think white people are their saviors. By the way, I am Vietnamese and I just don't understand why Cambodians hate Vietnamese who helped liberated Cambodians from the genocidal Khmer Rouge while they still love Americans for causing most of the deaths and destructions in Cambodia. Okay, I can see that you have a lot of hatred in your heart. I think your leader Hun Sen is wise enough to realize that Cambodia's and Vietnam's to tied to each other. We are neighbors and we have a choice between warfare, death and destruction or peace and prosperity. As a Vietnamese I am so glad that your leaders choose cooperation over hatred.
As for the Americans you know nothing about how they think. My father fought the Americans and I live in America most of my life, so I know how white people think. The truth is, you're nothing to them. For example, if Cambodia has a lot of oil and your leaders refuse to cooperate with them (let them control your oil industry), they can kill a million Cambodians and tell the world it's a war against terrorism.
America dropped more bomb on Cambodia than all of World War II and killed as many a million Cambodian civilians. The pilots were instructed by their leaders to bomb anything that moved (and they even laughed about it in their phone conversation with each other). That's how much value white people put on your lives. But you still think America stand for freedom, democracy or whatever. It's all talk. Like I said, they'd kill a million of innocent civilians and call it "collateral damage". It's all a game to them.
Hey 6:33, allows me to clear the confusion here. You see, there are several type of Cambodian in IndoChina. The one that live in Cambodia, I called them the Real Khmer, the one in South Vietnam, I called Ah Khmer-Yuon (Khmer-Vietnamese), and the one that live in Issan Province, Thailand, I called them Ah Khmer-Siam (Khmer-Thai).
Now, in general, the real khmer does not hates vietnamese, but we do have some extremist that does. I am sure that there are extremist Vietnamese also that hate Chinese, Cambodian, and Laotian, ... but let us not wasting time with them (idiots). Anyway, the Khmer that hate Vietnamse are those who jump the fence from South Vietnam (Ah Khmer-Youn). Also when Vietnam liberated us, the entire force compose of Real Vietnamese and Ah Khmer-Yuon, and many of them don't like the communist government. So after they succeed their mission, some of them stay behind and become our citizen. So the trouble makers are those from South Vietnam, but only a small fraction of the 14 millions in South Vietnam. Also, many of them don't really hate vietnamese per se, just the communist government. So they are making up story on how Vietnam government abused millions and millions of indegenous people ...
I hope you got some idea from what I am saying.
Most of the real khmer love vietnamese, and they appreciated many investors from vietnam who help created the much needed job here. Thus, don't get the troublemakers mixed up with the real khmer.

Most Khmers do not hate Vietnameses on personal level. What they do not like is the historical and current Vietnamese policy toward Cambodia. To win full respect and love from Khmers, Vietnam has to start showing honest and better intention - for examples, acknowledging Kampuchea Krom issues, making the current puppets playing fair in Cambodia. You do not liket corruption, nepotism, and despotism, and neither do the Khmers.
Regarding your comparison between those Kampucheans receiving honorary PhDs to Kissinger, I believe it is like comparing apple and orange. Kissinger did not give a damn about vietnamese or cambodian lives, however, I think he is smarter than Chea Sim.
There is a Khmer saying: "being loyal to the one that feeds you" so, naturally, overseas Khmers or Vietnameses do have political perspectives based on what is being fed to them. But, intelligent people know what system is best for their countries and people, and they will support any leaders who are fair to them.

I think it depend on the subject of interest. Perhaps they are good in Technology, but I question their History because I have heard many complaints about Japanese altering history to cover up for their past war crime. Okay, I am the Vietnam American guy. I want to thank all the Cambodians here who share my vision for Vietnam-Cambodia partnership. My best friend is a Cambodian American. As young men we struggled together against racism and discrimination by white Americans.
Interestingly, most of the pro-American Cambodians here seem very uneducated. They resort to childish name calling rather bringing up facts to support their hatred. They're pro-American, yet they don't really understand how most Americans feel about them. My Cambodian friend and I have been in America for almost 30 years, since we were young boys. At first we were as clueless as the pro-American haters here, but the longer we live with them we realized the true monsters that they are.

To 5:38 AM. Well, I am originally from North Vietnam and I am not a Vietcong. I immigrated to the US at the age of 6, so I was too young to understand what was going on.
Everything I know about Indochina is from growing up in America and reading history books. Although I understand that Cambodia and Vietnam have a shared a history of conflict and warfare with each other, I have no hatred whatsoever for the Cambodian people.
The same cannot be said of the racist white imperialists and colonialists which many Cambodians are welcoming with open arms and hearts. My Cambodian best friend and I stood together against their evil and abuses, and we prevailed and became very successful adults together.
Someone mentioned that oil and water don't mix, but I'm not so sure that Vietnamese and Cambodians are oil and water. Maybe Vietnamese and Cambodians shouldn't mix in the sense of physically living together, but our two countries can forge strong and lasting alliance for brighter futures for both our countries, and to protect our region from the divide and conquer schemes of the murderous and genocial white imperialists.

I am very proud of Vietcong/Vietminh for their courages to defeat our French conquerer for all of us. Without them the entire IndoChina will still be controlled by the French. Furthermore, Vietcong/Vietminh are soldiers of the modern era and they did not took any land from Cambodia.
