(Xinhua) The Phnom Penh court has delayed the verdict for former Phnom Penh governor's daughter over drug case, local media reported Thursday.
Keo Kham Maly, 39, daughter of Keo Chan who was Phnom Penh governor in the 1980s, was arrested in July 2005 with 0.34 gram of heroin at her home in Mean Chey district of Phnom Penh, the Rasmey Kampuchea newspaper said.
"I did not commit like the court accused me," Keo Kham Maly said, adding that she received a packet from her motorbike driver, An Hay, who always took her to her work place.
"I did not know it was a packet of heroin," she was quoted as saying.
"An Hay told me to keep the packet for someone who will come to take it. Later, there was a man coming to take the packet and I gave it to him. Immediately, the police handcuffed me," she added.
Keo Kham Maly will face years in jail if the court found her guilty, the newspaper said.

I have nothing to revenge this lady at all. For her, she cannot make any excuse at all. Once drug is with you, you are finished except you have a very strong medical professional recommendation that you are very sick and this drug can help to heal your health problem. If not, you are in jail or will be hanged if you are in Singapore. This a warning to all young people who are traveling overseas with drugs. You cannot make any excuse at all. If they find drugs with you, your life is gone.
This is Phnom Penh court, and the CPP Old Boys' Network is very extensive. They look after their inner circle, especially from the early years of their regime, so I wouldn't be surprised if this lady was just given a slap on the wrist or finished her jail term very early.
No medical experts would ever prescribe heroin to relieve health problems. Drug addicts must go through a withdrawal symptom, which is not very pleasant, to break their dangerous habit.
