NRP and HRP critized SRP of not being a democratic party, would they dare make such criticisms about the CPP?

A number of political parties were displeased by the call made by the opposition leader to party members from other parties to forget about their own party and come to join SRP instead, the critics are also irritated by Sam Rainsy’s scorn when he called these parties as puppet parties, firefly parties, or ghost parties etc…

During a speech he gave on 09 September, Sam Rainsy did not name any particular party, however, political analysts and those who follow political events have focused their attention on a number of political parties, such as the NRP and the HRP.

In response to the scorn above, Muth Chantha, NRP spokesman, said that Sam Rainsy claimed to be a democrat but his action is not becoming of a democrat.

Muth Chantha said: “I am telling you after the commune election, Mr. Sam Rainsy and the Sam Rainsy Party have no intention to unite the democrats at all, they are proud that the SRP was able to receive this small number of votes. Therefore, what he is doing is to help the ruling party to continue its grip on power only.”

Kem Sokha, HRP president, said: “For me, a democrat would not look down on others, even if they are a minority. Democracy means that the decision will be made based on the majority of voice, but with the respect of the minority. However, he did not respect the minority, he look down on the minority, this means that there is no democracy.”

Khim Veasna, president of the Alliance for Democracy party, said that Sam Rainsy is not a democrat because he violated on the liberty of others: “If he is a democrat, he should talk within his right, but he spilled onto the freedom of others, he violated. Freedom is limited by the law, and the law is limited by the freedom, they must collide each other there, we cannot allow it to spill from our place and affect others. Therefore, there is no democracy in a democratic country, he boasted all the time, when he speaks this language, we let the people look into it.”

After the commune election held in April of this year, the political current to form a union of democrats to compete with the ruling party came to the surface, however, this current vanished without any explanation.

Nevertheless, Mar Sophal, director of the investigation group of Comfrel, said that in a democratic society, the forming of a large number of political parties to compete in the election is a good thing that should be encouraged, the looking down on small political parties should be avoided.

I have to wonder why these want to be politicians such as Muth Chantha, Kem Sokha, and Khim Veasna and Mar Sophal never complain anything about HUN SEN dictatorship which is more undemocratic than Mr. Sam Rainsy? Don't they have any brain at all for wanting Mr. Sam Rainsy to praise them or treat them like King and Queen? These want to be politicians need to stop whining like a five years old child and start acting like real a politician!

Listen up! This is election time and it is a fair game for Mr. Sam Rainsy to invite all Cambodian people to join his party and so what if he put down other parties by simple statements of degrading the other parties image!

If these so called "other parties" have such a good image and they have no need to worry about a damn thing because Cambodian people will know they are!

This is how the politic game is played and conducted to attract more voters by democratic process! Who is stopping the "other parties" from doing the same?

I truly believe Mr. Sam Rainsy when he said that Cambodia will have only two major parties and they are the CPP and SRP! The "other parties" will be used by HUN SEN to break up or steal the vote!

The NRP and the HRP are two joker parties. One, a royal crap of a party, the other a tool for other parties, and both accusing the real People's Party, the SRP of not being democratic. hahahahaha. laughable at best.

Come on people. It is called politic101. It is OK and it is healthy for SRP. There is nothing wrong for Rannaridh and Kem Sokha (new parties) to criticize SRP while CPP is in power and SRP is CPP's opponent? I think it is great which means SRP must have done the right thing. It only put SRP on the spotlight and more people would be curious to know.

Rannaridh and Kem Sokha have to choose this strategy, and who would not?

You cannot be a politician if you are not flexible. You get to be able to switch or to flip whatever the opportunity gave you. Sometime you get to side with your enemy
to survive.

This is not the Khmer Typical, it is POLITIC. You are watching the show, but the players on the stage knew the story an dknew how to act, not you the watcher.

So be cool, will you?

All of the small parties should be abolished by 2008. These parties are formed to divide the votes. Khem Sokha formed Human Right party because he was afraid Hun Sen put him in jail again if he didn't create his political party. Hun Sen is behind Khem Sokha. Otherwise Kem Sokha can't held his meeting in Olympic stadium with Hun Sen police protection. So who is Kem Sokha? He is only working for Hun Sen.

Some of you living in USA or in rural thought that Mr Sam Rainsy is democratic person's.You better watch out. Try to get more infos about the decisions in the party meeting made by Mr Sam Rainsy. You will understand why Mr Keo Remy is quitting the party. A lots of people who know the party think that the last decision to nominate Eng Chhay Ieng to be the secretary general is too weird. Eng Chhay Ieng is gambler and owe a lots of money to some people. In 2006, some people threatened to kill him, that's why he had decided to quit his position as the secretary general. Now He's back again !

To 9:51PM

Your argument is weak and please tries again! ahahahhahah!

Mr. Sam Rainsy is democratic or not and only time can tell once he is in power! Cambodian people can always take him down just AH HUN SEN! I have enough of AH HUN SEN dictatorship and it is time for a change!

Those Cambodian leaders who favor transparency, law and order, and free open society tend to be democratic leaders and I see that in Mr. Sam Rainsy's vision of Cambodia!
