Vietnam to link power grid with neighboring countries

September 25, 2007

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), the country's biggest power producer and sole distributor, plans to connect the national grid with those of neighboring countries for power trading, newspaper Vietnam News reported Tuesday.

From now to 2010, Vietnam will supply Cambodia electricity through a 220 kv line linking the Thot Not station in the Mekong delta to Cambodia's Phnom Penh. In the second phase from 2015-2016, the grid will be jointed in Ho Chi Minh city once the construction of the Lower Sesan 1 and Lower Serepok 2 hydroelectricity power plants in Cambodia is completed.

The state-owned power group plans to construct two 500 kv lines connecting Laos' Nam Theun and Ban Sok to the country's central Ha Tinh province and central highlands Gia Lai province respectively, so as to import power from Laos' Sekaman 1, Sekong 4 and 5, and Nam Kong hydroelectricity power plants, said the paper.

EVN also plans to link the national power grid to that of Thailand in order to sell power in March and April, and buy power in periods from June to August and October to December.

Since October 2004, Vietnam has got a 110kv line and a 220kv line linking to China. The two countries plan to further connect their 500kv lines, the paper said.

Vietnam's electricity demand is estimated to annually grow 10-15 percent in the 2007-2010 period, the country plans to increase its electricity capacity to 25,000-26,000 MW in 2010 from 11,400 MW in 2005, meeting demand for its socio-economic development, according to the EVN.

Cambodian govt shuold reconsider this trick of investment from the Veit 'cause it won't provide any beneficial for khmers people. For the long run, they will provide only to the group of Veit'business men in Srok Khmer such as Sok Kong in order to creep Khmer's economic nowaday and into the future.

This microeconomical invading style should be carefully to let it happen.
A Cassino maneger in Bavett forced Khmers imployees to dress as Viet, A wireless phone company based in Parie created phone card of Veit Name that have the Angkor Watt back ground on it. A Khmer avenue in Phnom Penh was named Hanoi and
now the Angkor Watt card to gamble for fun. What will be next?.

Khmer built Angkor Watt and why we could't build a hydroelectric power plant for our own people?.
