This is a video report on visit by Prime Minister Hun Sen's eldest son, Hun Manet, to drought victims in Siem Reap Province on 10 October.
On 11 October, Cambodian Government-run Phnom Penh Television Kampuchea in Cambodian at 1200 GMT carried a three-minute report, during its prime-time evening newscast, on "Dr. Hun Manet, eldest son of Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen of the Royal Government of Cambodia [RGC] and Madame Bun Rany," accompanied by Siemreab Constituency MP Sieng Nam, " paying visit and handing out generous donations from Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and his wife to people facing drought" in Siem Reap Province's Kralanh District on the morning of 10 October.
The report said that after the Kralanh district chief presented a report on damages caused by the drought, MP Sieng Nam expressed regret over the adverse impact from the extreme dryness and concern about the food shortage facing the people." Sieng Nam thanked, through Dr. Hun Manet, Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife for their aid.
Taking the floor, the report added, "Dr. Hun Manet conveyed greetings from his parents, Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and his wife, to the farmers, and he regretted that the drought had destroyed the rainy-season rice crop of the local people."
The report also said that Dr. Hun Manet "urged the people to remain patient and continue to struggle for their future." He stressed, "The basic foundation for building Cambodia is peace, security, and political stability and to muster solidarity force to help each other in difficult times." He added, "No country, even it is a developed one, in the world can avoid natural disasters. Therefore, those disasters are just temporary and we are able to help to each other. Anyhow, what is our hope is the Royal Government's correct leadership policy, which is moving forward toward sustainable economic growth with the aim of reducing poverty for the people."
To conclude, the report said that Dr. Hun Manet handed out emergency aid to 1,590 families of the drought victims in the district.

Thanking a single or a few people in particular is just wrong and sends a wrong message to the citizens that only these group of people are able to help them. It is the Government responsiblity to provide AIDS to the victims. Not a certain group of people. So it is just plain wrong for people to advocate a particular group for the sake of making them look like a KING.
Yes, but the aids came from Hun Sen and his wife. I don't see anything wrong with thanking individual or group representing the donor.
This young man looks decent, perhaps there is a chance that he could replace and be better than his father. If he had observed and absorbed the values he learned from the great and prestigious educational system in the West, Cambodia might be better off in the future? Except, that he and his father could first survive the canibalism of Cambodia politics.
There are a whole lot of strong-man wannabes who are waiting in line, but he is different, because he is not encumbered with any unpleasant past such as Khmer Rouge or Vietcong influences, and by the time he is ready, the royal drama should also have subsided.
It's enough of Hun's lagacy. If he's good and cares for his nation, he should earn his post through merit not defying for power like his father.

I just have some doubts about his bachelor degree. Now this Hun Sen's son has a PhD. Where did he get it? In what field does He hold his PhD. What did he discover? We want to read his thesis. Manet is a great role model for Cambodian. Whether you love his father as leader or not, that's democracy all about, but his father does something to make the people's lives better...it may not be instant but it has gradually getting Cambodia to the right direction. You had done a fantastic job to send all of his childrend to be educated in the United States & England. Manet spent more than 15 years in the western Democratic system. He was admired and respected by many professors, scholars and friends from around the globe.
I am asking every Cambodian to support the people for the right cause, for the right vision & for the right change that you want to see happening in Cambodia. Manet represents that.
Let's start doing something constructive. Pleas start to motivate your relatives, friends & neighbor to value education, humanitarian work & hard work.
Dr. King once said "The time is always right to do what is right". Just do it. Bring Cambodia to the next level, a prosperous one. Manet is a down to earth, hard working & educated man. Let's help more Cambodian to be like Dr. Hun Manet.
