Phnom Penh - More money and time than currently budgeted would be needed if the Khmer Rouge tribunal is to complete its work, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong warned a visiting British delegation Tuesday. A spokesman for Hor Namhong told journalists at a press conference that the minister had advised British MP Anne Clywd it was becoming increasingly clear that the 56-million dollar joint UN-Cambodia tribunal to try a handful of former Khmer Rouge leaders had little chance of fitting its three-year budgeted timeframe.
The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia began initial proceedings late last year. It is not expected to begin hearings until early next year.
The spokesman said Hor Namhong had told Clywd that the budget needed to be extended until at least 2010 and asked for assistance from foreign donors including Britain.
Up to 2 million Cambodians died during the Khmer Rouge's 1975-79 Democratic Kampuchea regime.

I won't be too concerned with the extra times and moneys because I don't think anyone will lived pass the three years trial. Just keep it moving to the last cent, and hope we get lucky to put away one or two murderers. No more excuses please.
need more money to put in my pocket.
The ECCC or KRT is like a circus.
If UN consider important the KRT, They should never nominated Michelle Lee.
I think Michelle Lee already spent more than 20 millions of the assets.
Now She quits. If She knows She can't hold on. Why accept the nomination???
Nothing is different in UN as in Cambodia, with the nomination Ly Bun Leng.
What a joke !!!
somebody need to write bill gates and ted turner for funding to support the krt. make sure the vietcong afiliation with the killing comes out.
I doubt it. If anything is to come out of the KRT that related to Yuon, it will be Ah Khmer-Yuons impersonating Yuons and killed a good portions of the 2 millions victims. We all know they have been trying aggressively to turn Khmer against Yuon because we are closer to Yuon then to Ah Khmer-Yuons immoral idiots.
stop the fucking foolis Ho Nam Houng. tell your bosses to just fucking stop it before all of your heads are hangs. MURDERERS!!!!!!!!
