New appeal to find missing son

Eddie Gibson

The Argus (UK)

The parents of a missing student have renewed their appeal to find their son three years after he went missing.

Mike Gibson, 60, of Hove Road, Hove, last heard from his son Eddie on October 24, 2004.

The 21-year-old was studying at Leeds University when he left to travel around Cambodia.

An email sent to his mother, Jo, said he was "really looking forward to coming home".

But he never appeared at Heathrow Airport when his parents went to meet him.

The father-of-three said: "After this length of time we have got to accept that Eddie probably isn't alive but we will always retain that little bit of hope."

Officers from Sussex Police's major crime branch spent ten days with the Cambodian National Police last year but returned to England empty handed.

Anyone with information about Eddie's disappearance should call 01273 677144. The family has put up a £10,000 reward for information.

To the Gibson,

My condolences to your family. It is painful to not knowing what happening. And it is very shameful that the Cambodian government is very incompetent the investigation. I hope you will find your answer soon.

Sincerely,

I wonder how sure are they that he's in Cambodia. They should asked the neighboring countries to help out as well.

The immigration department can always confirm this fact..

Although the Immigration Department cannot confirm the number of Viets entering, living and working illegally in Cambodia, they should have a record of foreigners who did enter Cambodia legally.

This young man should be fairly easy to recognise. I praise for his safety wherever it will be.

Cambodia doesn't have the ministry of immigration.
Remember that the last time Ranariddh proposed to have the ministry of immigration.
Hun Sen kicked out his idea.
Right now the ministry of interior act as the ministry of immigration.

My condolences to Mr Mike Gibson and his wife.

They have time to investigate about Tim Sakhorn, but They don't put enough effort for this young traveler.
I don't think Khieu Khanarith hide him to rape, this guy like only young girls (one of the ministry pedophile).
For the images of the countries of ASEAN, especially Cambodia, I hope We will find this young traveler.

Before I forget. The one who is the principle for the immigration is Hok Lundy.
So You guys really think this Hok Lundy will lose his time to count his compatriots???
All He has to do is to make sure that the viets have the Identify Card to be able to vote. Numbers doesn't matter. The more is the best for him....

Yeah, but the immigration doesn't keep record of visitors unless they lost their passport or something.

And after 3 years, if no one have seen him in Cambodia, it means either he's out of the country or he's death in Cambodia somewhere. No one can't live without food, and if he has purchased food, someone would have seen him. Thus, if he's in Cambodia, he's dead from any number of things, and to narrow it down, we need to know what his objective is for comming to Cambodia. Does he come to camp out in the jungle, climb mountain, fishing, exploring wild life, ...

10:43AM, if you read carefully we didn't say Ministry of Immigration. It is Immigration Department, which is a division within the Ministry of Interior as you said.

Most countries don't have Ministry of Immigration, and Cambodia has already had too many Ministers so we don't need more ministries than necessary. Cambodia also has too many Generals!

Hey, does anyone in the UK got detail on the kid (Eddie Gibson)? Try to contact his close friends and relatives and what have you. I mean his dental record, medical record, his school life, his interest, then publish it. Don't leave anything out (big or small). That is the only chance of finding him, seriously.

I agree with you that Cambodia has too many ministries. How about abolish the ministry of planning ???
Usually each ministry has their planning. And when come the time to make decision, it's up to Sok Anh, with his council of ministry.
Anyways, Khmer Sralanh Khmer has already write about the ministry of immigration, it's would be Hok Lundy who will have the highest dignity to be the next minister of immigration. Hok Lundy, the one who is responsible to bring to Hun Sen all the ladies He desires in 90s. I don't know who is doing that job right now...
Anyway, most of the ministries has nothing to do. They start moving only when hun sen shows his big bro character on television. Look at Tep Vong, They don't know where to put him. The result is that they ask him to be MONK. What an ashame for our religion. Tep Vong who drink wine and eat at night.
The more they create ministries, the more They can put an uneducate monkeys CPP to these positions.

Where do you hold that stats : that most countries does not have the ministry of immigration???
I know canada had their ministry of immigration. USA had their U.S. Department of State.
France has their ministere des affaires etrangeres. which mean they put foreign ministry and immigration together.
I think most of the countries got one under different's name...
The point i brought here, not to contradict you, others countries are more serious about their immigration than my beloved country CAMBODIA.

Hey, stop bickering about shit. It makes no difference where you structure your immigration department or what name you use for it, as long you have someone oversee the immigration issue, that is all that count, alright?
