A CAMBODIAN farmer was stung to death and five others were seriously hurt after a group of children hurled stones at a bee hive.

The farmers were harvesting vegetables when they were swarmed by the bees, which became enraged after the children destroyed part of the hive with stones fired from slingshots, police said.

Sim Tha, 54, died after being stung hundreds of times, while three of the other five were found unconscious. The children were not hurt.

"A group of children were shooting stones at the beehive and part of it fell down on the farmers," district police chief Ly Buoy said.

"The victim is a bit old and could not manage to escape from the swarm of bees," he added by telephone from western Cambodia where the accident occurred on Monday.

Many Khmers, including the local leaders, are still living a naive life. Negligence and lack of common sense of the adults witnessing the incident can lead to such tragedy, death and destruction.

Hey, who say to have to wear suit and look like a corrupted diplomat to lead people?
