Don't call me, don't visit me, no more birthday cards and gifts and stop bothering me Cambodia's retired king has warned.
Cambodia's retired but revered King Norodom Sihanouk said he doesn't want any gifts, correspondence or visiting relatives for his 85th birthday.
In the past the king has issued similar statements but people keep ignoring them his weary spokesman said.
In an official statement Sihanouk asked for people, including royal family members, to heed his words "to not call on him, to not dispatch to him messages of greetings and congratulations, even on the occasion of his birthday."
Sihanouk hopes to avoid "gifts, fruits, cakes, culinary dishes and other things."
And if pesky subjects and relatives think they can get around his well wishing ban by getting them to him during other occasions they can think again he has warned.
Sihanouk's request also applies to Christmas, international New Year and Cambodia's traditional Khmer New Year, celebrated in April, the statement said.
Sihanouk abdicated in October 2004, citing poor health. He was succeeded by Norodom Sihamoni, one of his two sons with former Queen Monineath. But he is still widely revered by many Cambodians.
He has given no reason for his ban.

Oh what happened to Somdach Euv, now? It sounds like he's coming down with manic depression. One day he was happy, and the next day sad.
I think this old man meant the opposit. He is afraid that people might forget his birthday, so he created this kind of warining... He is like a child as someone mentioned above.

Seeing him on telelvison it look like he cant' even carrying his head on his shoulder anymore,so lay to rest for a long time hopefully you don't have to wake up! and irritating us anymore.
