Thank you for keeping His Holiness' name burning.
The Khmers are fortunate to have one of their son, Samdech Maha Ghosananda. This does not occur often.
Here are some heroic figures that I can recount.
1. Queen Soama (the Chinese dubbed her name to Liv Yi)
2. King Suryavarman II
3. Emperor Jayavarman VII
4. Empress Indradevi
5. Oknha Khleang Moeung
6. Oknha Son Kuy
7. Oknha Krola Hoam Kong
8. Buddhist Supreme Patriarch Jotannano Chuon Nath
9. Buddhist Supreme Patriarch Maha Ghosananda
List is not complete.
These some of the significant Buddhist monks and figures that make geat impact upon the Khmer society of different eras and generations.
Without politics, Samdech Maha Ghosananda would have been the Sangharaja (Supreme Patriarch) of Cambodia. Due to politics, His Holiness unwillingly forced to re-live the life in exile after his many attempts to bring peace to Cambodia through His Holiness' Dharma Walks (16 times).
His Holiness passed away peacefully while living in exile in the United States.
May His Holiness be always with us, and stand up to fight for our rights and our people to lives as a gentle Khmer as we are!
Jay yo Samdech Preah Maha Ghosananda!
Jay yo the Holiness of Peace!
Jay yo Khmara vivant!
Personnaly, I welcome all religions. However, once the institution cannot keep itself from being contaminated by politic, it no longer has any value to me. Thus, I urge the institution to do its best to avoid all political causes. Ban all political opinions from all your temples. And all coward politicians should stop exploiting our monks. If they cannot delivered their idea to the public directly, then they don't belong in politic, period.
I admire the work of moha Gosando, he portrays the true selflessness of a monk, working with compassion for social change, justice and reconcialiation of Cambodia. Despite some people's disagreement on his role and buddhist monk's role in general in society, he display true path of dharma. Which is compassion and pratical work for the community and progress of spiritual and physical well-being of humanity, not as some people would have fantasize, which is to have religion be a useless life to be lived somewhere in a far away mountain away from civilization.
Well, what you are talking about is a politician job, not a priest job.
A priest job is to help with moral teaching in our society that is badly needed. Had they done their part, we would not had seen so many people in jail, greedy, drug abuse, prostitution, ... .
you're wrong. A politician's job as we have seen and has been demonstrated from time to time, is to steal, become greedy, sell drugs, let people who traffic victim of prostitution go free, and use their power to destroy dharma.
A priest job, maybe in your christian world is to sit idly by and do nothing. In Cambodia and buddhism or hinduism or islam, its different.
Sorry Cambodia is not a place for a westerner like-minded people. That just fact, whether you respect it or not, no one ask you to agree with and conflict it with your christian viewpoints.
Talk about Khmers in Kampuchea Krom, without the Buddhist monks, the Khmer heritage would have been annihilated long time ago.
The Buddhist monks survive due to the alms offering of the Khmer faithfuls and in return the monks become the defender, protector and guardian of Khmer land, identity, heritage, culture, civilization, language, Theravada Buddhism, custom, tradition and way of life.
Khmer Buddhist monks in Kampuchea Krom do live on alms offering, they are productive force.
The VNamese know this so they always want to eradicate Buddhist temples.

This is a continuation from comment #1.

Somdach Preah Maha Ghosananda is named as Ghandi of Cambodia.
Through his social work, wisdom and compassion; he should be ranked as:

We don't care. We want our politicians to to the governing job, not stupid monks.
The only group of people that I could think of that are against Buddhist monks or any other religions is communists.
anon commentator @9:25AM sounds like a commie.
Buddhism has been a threat to communism.
When communism takes power in these countries, China, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, they ban Buddhism, the national religion of those countries officially or not.
Buddhism is also a threat to dictatorial countries like, China, Cambodia, VN, Laos, and Burma.
Buddhism thrives in democratic countries like, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, U.S., Canada, Australia, and France.
9:25AM indeed sounds like a commie. He is not complaining when Communist Monk Tep Vong is in charge of political activities in support of the CPP and the Viets in Cambodia.
He uses the word "We" to fool people that he speaks for everybody, while in fact he is just a lone commie in charge of toilet cleaning for his greedy and corrupt politicians. I feel sorry for this idiot.
Preah Moha Ghosananda forever remains a true hero of Cambodia. Despite the huge obstacles created by the immoral politicians and the political monks such as Tep Vong, he still moved on to spread the message of peace and harmony in Cambodia until the end.
Yeah, and what exactly have Tep Vong done that is political, would you mind be specific?
5:15PM,
Samdech Tep Vong citing 7 January message all the times.
He forced Ven. Indapanna Tim Sakhorn to defrock with fabricating evidences.
He talks down on the democratic and opposition force.
Just a few...to list.
And what is so political about Jan 7, the day we were saved from evil?
And there is nothing political in condemning monk for getting into politic.
Of course he talk down on the Pro-Democracy politicians because they keep on dragging his monks into politic. What do you want?
To the Cambodian populations, except a few individuals with power in Cambodia, January 7th is the day that neighboring VN with mighty army invaded its weaker neighbor Cambodia.
January 7th is just a day that VN did and continue whatever VN wants with and in Cambodia.
Come on dude, let's be logical about this. You can't liberate anyone with bouquet of flowers, or Almond cookies and coffee, ... . You have to invade with tanks, bazookas, flame throwers, ..., but it is not invasion per se. It is a process of liberation. Get it?
