Unbelievable but true: Phnom Penh shortlisted for 2007 World Leadership Award in "Environment"

2007 WORLD LEADERSHIP AWARDS SHORTLIST IS ANNOUNCED

More than 400 cities across the world were asked to submit projects in a wide range of activities spanning: Architecture & Civil Engineering, Communication, Culture and the arts, Economy and/or Employment, Education and/or the Development of the Young, Health, Housing, Environment, Law and Order, Science and Technology, Sport, Town Planning, Transport, Urban Renewal and Utilities.

The best of those projects will be presented to the judges at a series of live symposia in London on 5th and 6th December 2007; and the winners will be announced in London on 6th December 2007.

The World Leadership Awards are given to cities whose leaders have shown exceptional imagination, foresight or resilience in a number of key fields - especially cities that have reversed trends, shaken off traditional images, and acted as an example and inspiration to others.

This year, for the first time, as well as giving individual awards in fifteen different categories, the judges will also be declaring four cities to be City of the Year for their region:

African City of the Year
American City of the Year
Asia-Pacific City of the Year
European City of the Year

Careful, remember the Thai's gold in the bush fences to protect Cambodia.

Stupid thing, Phnom Penh is dumping by city leaders. Fill in lakes and built building on public garden! Traffic jam that increase CO2, etc.

I love Cambododia to win, but I didnot see any environmental improvment.
