Off the wall
Live News (Australia)
Usually it's a cuddly teddy bear or a favourite action figure that kids need before they can get to bed. But not for Cambodian six-year-old Sambath Uon; he needs "Lucky", his trusty six-metre long python, before he can sleep.
"I love the python like my sister," Sambath said.
"All my friends are jealous of her."
Sambath first encountered the snake when he was three-months-old, and Lucky was only 50cm.
His parents didn't like to see Lucky with Sambath, and tried to take him back into the forest three times - to which Lucky would keep returning to his child owner.
Sambath's mother, Kim Kanara, said: "We would find it asleep next to Sambath. They have slept together every night for the past six years."
"She is a member of the family now. We shelter, feed, bathe and even pray to her."
The python is even considered to have magical healing powers.
"Some recovered from sickness after being blessed by her," Mrs Kanara added.
Off the wall says: This boy will never, ever have problems with bullies.

this kid has more guts then me. i wouldn't get close to a tiny rat, let alone a six-feet python, yikeee.
That's amazing!!!
But, i wish his parents to pay more attention about it..
Animal is just animal.
No, not 6 feet, but 6 meters (18 feet), 3:20.
Looking at the picture, I say the snake could well break every bone in the boy's body and swallowed him alive within 20 minutes.
This snake must be well fed so it never faces hungry in any second. Otherwise watch out, boy!!!!
Boy Oh boy
i'm going to be sad when the next time i hear about a news with a boy and his python. You know why.
This is a very bad idea.
Yeah, but don't let that bother you because there has not been any incident of a python ate any kid here. The spirit of our ancestors look after them.
Common sense, common sense, common sense. Where is the human common sense in this story? The snake inherits a wild nature. The kid and the snake sleep togather every night. It is predictable that at one point and time the snake will constrict the boy in the early morning. When the parents wake up they will find an overnight pregnant python (with the boy inside its belly). Not to wish that it will happen but the possibility is very real that the kid will die in the coil of the snake. I may sound harsh and uncompassionate but raw stupidity bugs the hell out of me. Best of luck to the whole family. But be ware of the real danger like accident waiting to happen.
Nope, that will never happened in Cambodia, but it certainly will happened in the west.
I'm hoping the parents are not letting the boy sleep with the snake. One morning the boy will be inside the snake stomach.
