A senior mines official from the Cambodian government says Phnom Penh is seeking foreign invesment in its $US3 billion renewable hydro-electricity energy projects.

The secretary of the mines department Ith Prang says the projects are needed to meet the country's increasing energy needs, without relying heavily on energy from oil fuel.

He's told Radio Australia Khmer Service that Cambodia wants foreign investors to invest in its $1.3 billion hydro-electricity project along the Mekong river.

Ith Prang says that until now there has not been any investment in the eastern region of the country while on the western part of the country, Cambodia has received about $1.8 billion in foreign investment.

This is very good news to hear. It is about time that our government really doing something our own. Plus the reliable we are the more investers will go into Cambodia to invest 1-because we have reliable energy if they in the middle of running the machines they don't want that to happen. 2-we could our work forces to work all 3 shifts like other countries. In this matter we can and almost have our laborers to work without have to go abroad looing for work. I would like to give a thump up for this initiative. Please keep up the good work!
Thanks
