Aging Khmer Rouge leader Khieu Samphan was flown by government helicopter to a Phnom Penh hospital Wednesday, following an apparent stroke in the former stronghold of Pailin the day before. Khieu Samphan is widely expected to be the next former regime leader to face tribunal indictment, and his stroke came just a day after the arrests of two other top leaders, Ieng Sary and Ieng Thirith.
Khieu Samphan's youngest son, Khieu Voradeth, told VOA Khmer Wednesday his father was fine but required an examination. At least one human rights official said hospitalization of the former nominal head of the regime could present obstacles to his arrest, but not charges against him.
"He has recovered now and just needs some medical checkups for his body, head and blood," Khieu Voradeth said.
Prime Minister Hun Sen said the government would work to protect Khieu Samphan's health, to ensure it was not blamed if he became more ill.
Khieu Samphan and his wife were driven from a military airport to the Phnom Penh's Calmette Hospital, as armed police kept reporters at bay. Plainclothes police escorted Khieu Samphan to a scanning room to have his head checked.
Calmette Director Heng Tai Kry declined to comment on Khieu Samphan's condition.
Khieu Samphan collapsed Tuesday evening and temporarily slipped from consciousness after complaining he felt ill.

I used to read these in Sam kok ,Chinese story of how the twist can occur.Now cambodia cops the same story, Good guy turned bad and the crooks turns good.
If not found guilty of charge, Khiev Samphorn will become Heroe, raised in a simple life and dies in a simple life but self sacrifice for the country is proven.He was a different parliamentarian for which really in the contrast of nowaday officials.
Whether bad or good turned out, cambodians will remember you!!!.
Our kingdom should set up a national heroe day to those of our ancestors committed to the good cause for the country.

I have different opinion from you with the regard of evil Khiev Samphann. you may have seen him as a good guy but I think he was the worst guy than any one can predict on him. If he is a good guy, he will not associated with bad guy at all. He would have dissociated himself from PolPot and other evils of his clan already. He must have the same expectation and have the same gut as other evils and have wanted to kill all people who were being judged by them as exploiters of the society. Chinese has said " If you are being associated with black, you will be at least a charcol, and if you are being associated with diamond, you are at least worth as gold ". Sam Kok which you have read was different. Sam Kok was about three kingdoms of former China which haven't unified under Qing xi Houngdy. You look at the present political parties in Cambodia.
-Those who are in CPP, they are all robbers and wanted Vietnam as their boss to back up their power.
-Those who are in Funcipec, are all corrupted and rotten people.
-Those with SRP are all young and wanting National Pride and wanting good social justice.
-Those who are with HRP are also from people of the same back ground.

Nope, we are not puppet, and no Khmer citizen have been abducted. Only, Ah Khmer-Yuon who messed around with our national security that got deported back to Srok Yuon. Treason is a serious crime. In many country, you would lose your citizenship and be deported to where you came from too, not to mention severe penalty. Try it in New Zealand and see what will happened.

Well, Ah KKF Agent Monk Sakhorn was born in South Vietnam. We was nice enough to sponsor him, and he thank us by messing around with our national security. Thus, he deserved what he got. It is just too bad that the Yuon authority only gave him minimum sentence for his confession instead of maximum sentence.
