Land lots in Binh Phuoc recovered from illegal sales

VietNamNet Bridge - Sixteen high-value plots of land in Binh Phuoc Province, illegally granted to local state officials, have been recovered and are now up for auction at a starting price of VND1.6 million (US$ 16) per square meter.

The Binh Phuoc Provincial People’s Committee recently issued a decision to authorize the Dong Phu Ward People’s Committee to organize an auction to sell the land-use rights of 16 lots of land in the city’s center which were previously granted illegally to local state officials.

The starting price of the 16 valuable lots of land is VND 1.6 million (US$16 ) per sqm, the smallest lot being 168.4sqm while the largest is 427.2sqm.

The high-value lots were previously illegally granted to members of the Standing Committee of Dong Phu Ward. In 2006, following a number of press reports on such allocations to state officials, the Inspection Board of Binh Phuoc Province conducted investigations and concluded the land allotment had violated regulations.

Based on the Inspection Board’s judgement, the Binh Phuoc Provincial People’s Committee decided to revoke all land-use rights issued to the officials.

Binh Phuoc Province is located in southern Viet Nam, north of Ho Chi Minh City and shares a border with Cambodia.
