About 20 years ago, not too far from Nokoreach (currently occupied by Thailand), a complete stone inscription was discovered (see Photo 1). The inscription dated from the 11th century, under the reign of King Udayaditiyavarman II (Udaya Aditiya = the Rising Sun), and it was inscribed in two languages. The first 30 lines consist of a poem in Sanskrit, and the last 6 lines are in Khmer. Chirapat Prapandvidya, a professor of archeology at the Silpakorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, translated the inscription into English, and the content of the inscription was published in the Journal of the Siam Society, Vol.78, Part 2 (1990).
Those who would like to learn about the details of this inscription should refer to the published article above. My goal here is not to talk about the entire subject described by Prof. Chirapat Prapandvidya, but I just want to point out a short sentence in Sanskrit to show how much Khmer people from that era loved their Nation. Furthermore, it is not just me who was interested in this issue, I also heard the interest of Prof. Kangvol Khatshima (a Khmer language professor at the Silapakorn University) who discussed this issue during a lecture in Bangkok also. A sentence found on line 29 (see Photo 2) reads: “If I will be rewarded for my meritorious acts, I wish to be reborn in Kampuja [again]”.

It's amazing to know that somewhere in Thailand, Cambodian's language is of the interest of someone else to learn. Good for them. We're neighbor and we should be able to speak and understand each other well and with Many Thai's businesses are all over the places in Siem Reap, Thai should know Cambodian for their own benifit and we should know theirs. Thai language is actually very easy to learn. If you listen carefully, many Thai words are the same as Cambodian, especially within the royal circle.
Yes I will always be Khmer too. And if there really is next lives... I wish to be born as a Khmer again in every life.

Whatever happen to Cambodia during the dark period of the wars, the genocide, and the invasion and it is all an act of God! The Jewish people been worst than Cambodian people and they came out fine!

Planet Earth is getting to crowed and with all the pollution and the global warming, the wars, the instability ... I just wish I can move to another planet where there are a lot of water falls, beautiful mountains, peace and quiet, and endless white sandy beach and beautiful women and friendly people and where I can enjoy all the sunshine and the sunset with good food and drink and I don't have to think about anything! I just want to relax and make love all day and all night! Ahahahahahh

Isn't that great to hear someone really proud to be the citizen of Khmer? Today the situation is toally reversed. Most people I know are not proud to be Khmer. Some people don't even identify themselves as Khmer or from Cambodia.

To those who wished and very proud to be born as khmer and happened to live in foreigh's land ,please go back home and resettle at the frontier now to protect your homeland from being nibbling.If you have said that you were proud to be khmer and keep living in the third countries,then your wishful thinking doesn't mean a shit, in other word say one thing do another.

I really love to learn more about this article and the stone inscription. This is a great opportunity to utilize this kind of inscription for teaching the Khmer university at large. I always proud to be Khmer.
Most bad things that are happening in Kambuja currently are not Hun Sen doing, its Youn's doing. The Youn's paint bad image about Khmer and get Khmer to believed that all the bad things are done by Hun Sen. For infact, Hun Sen is tryiing to get out this messy ontracts that he made a mistake...

The trend like now in Cambodia, I saw a lot of old fart from foreign land in their 50 up and they are marrying very young Cambodian women in their early twenty to have all the right as Khmer Citizenship to buy a lot of property in Cambodia! This is a very dangerous trend because these old fart foreigners have ton and ton of money while dirt poor Cambodian population don't have shit and AH HUN SEN is not going to help them either!
Many of the businesses in Cambodia are controlled by foreigners who have no patriotism and profit dictate everything and nobody is looking after the Cambodian national interest!
Cambodian population will be left out in the cold, poor, and hungry! Cambodia is the sick man of Asia and that is the reality!
