4) Cambodian is the New Thai: A triangulation between Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai cooking, Cambodian's emphasis on noodle dishes, curries, stir fries and prahok, the strong-flavored fish paste, will grow in popularity. Cambodian food has stronger flavors than Vietnamese, slightly more subtle that Thai and is not as heavy as Chinese.

No. Cambodian IS NOT THE NEW THAI.
THE SIAM IS THE KHMER BY-PRODUCT!
The Siem is copycat of Khmer....everything from Boxing,Culture, script and event its land that were stilling....
I agree...
A lot of the Thai stuff like their royal court traditions, everyday traditions, styles of food preparation, muy thai, script, etc. are all borrowed (in some cases stolen) from that of the Khmer.
I'm not discounting that the Thai don't have originality, BUT you can trace a tremendous amount of Thai culture that took its roots from Khmer culture. One problem is that most Thais will discredit this and deny it...which is normal I guess. Every culture wants to think that theirs is the best.
Let's sum it up that Khmer Empire had stretched all the way as far as Malaysia that didn't rule out Mr. siem or Mrs. siem. Cambodian Princes and Princesses are everywhere. When each country started to take up its shape, those people remained inside and when the people are still alive and stayed there, so did the culture. Siem did have her root attatched to us.
Vietnam for example, her language is 90% Cambodian. you listen to it carefully and eliminate that up & down or surpentine accent out, there is Khmer's language. Don't let them fool you. You're Khmer and if our neighbors think they are like us, sure! let's make friend, because may be we are all came from the same root and let's them say all they want. You just stay put. All language that were written at The Temple of Angkor is in Khmers.
Who is a genetic one??? Hello!
Thai is a copy cat from khmer but Thai prospers because of their king. Unlike our King Sihanouk who created the khmer rouge in the first place and destroyed Cambodia...very shameful...our earth lacks God to punish man like him...
6:55 AM...I agree with you. But it's not just Sihanouk...it's also many of the Khmer kings that came before him. In Khmer history, it is well known that those with power and those in charge of leading the nation, seem to always fight with one another over power and possession. When one side loses, that side resorts to either the Thai or the Viets or China for help. As a result, we're never united, we never help one another, never find ourselves having leaders lead us to the right direction, our territory and sovereignty is always compromised, and the innocent are always screwed without a chance.
It's like there is a curse on all Khmers and we end up repeating the same cycle over and over and over.
who said Vietnamese language is 90% Khmer. Who are you kidding. You one ignorant fool, you Khmer or some in disguise? Do you even speak Khmer or Vietnamese? Ask someone who speak both.
Don't make statements you cannot back up or you don't have any clue about. How ignorant.
To anonymous 12:36,
ONLY Vietnamese deny the fact. Because you vietnamese do not want admit it.
Who cares about the Vietnamese language....when they speak, they sound like a bunch of ducks quacking at each other.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!
