Hun Sen's New Titles Acknowledged by RFI

8 January 2008
Opinion by Serei Suosdei

In its program in Khmer on 7 January 2008 (from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Phnom Penh time) broadcast from Paris, Radio France International (RFI) aired the "news" of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen receiving strange new titles (such as "Life Senator", "Ambassador At Large to the World Presidency" and "Honorary Professor of Diplomacy and International Relations") from an unknown institution (the "International Parliament for Safety and Peace"). RFI aired the "news" as it were something very important, i.e. with many (misleading) details, exactly as published by the CPP (see front page article in CPP mouthpiece Rasmei Kampuchea, 8 January 2008). They implied that Hun Sen can now be compared to a Nobel Peace Prize winner! What a big reward for Hun Sen on the CPP "historical" day of 7 January! Why can't RFI be more critical or have a more discerning approach? Do they think that their Cambodian listeners are stupid? Or has Jean-François Tain (RFI Khmer program's director) received money from the CPP?

It is not surprised for me for Hun Sen and his colleagues who are good in lying Cambodians. But they cannot lie international community and Cambodian educated.

However, their lie will become a bad consequence for themselves in the future.

I wouldn't be surprised by this news because every officials in Cambodia has the title as Ohkna or King. When there are Kings, no peace or prosperity to the countrymen will be observed. Our Khmer Society is consisted of Evildoer and immoral being that ONLY think of ONE thing in his/her life, SELF-GAINED.

The title ONLY be known among the elite Khmers, one he/she stepped out of the box -- the person became an ordinary person, just like you and I. When I read the news from KI, most of the time I wish that those officials take the step and fall cracked head open.

Gentleman

This is a political game for CPP to retain in power by proving that current PM is internationally accademic, it is a controlling mechanism. Many disavantages to cambodians:

- CPP to secure its strength by unsecured politicians to join in.

- Young cambodians will never have opportunity to engage themselve in politic for better cambodia.Only bunch of the CPP children will be promoted to controlling cambodia.

- Directional violence always utilised to reduce or delay or eliminate khmer compatriots from all faction.

- Continue to feed and control the poor for manipulative measures, in order to also retain votes.

Stengthening control, VN now actively engage in many key areas, after 600 experts conference in August 2007 in HO CHI MINH, such as:

1-Ex-troop agreed by Government for concessional plantation in various places in cambodia. Future reference would be land invasion. In contrast, cambodians have less land to cultivate and live on.Subsequently cambodians move to border for slavery.

2-VN acts as co-defense but leading and knowing full well of secrecy of khmer defence.

3-Market expansion for economical gain to cambodia and laos. Also building infrastructure for economic control in the region.

TOGETHER INTELLECTUALS ABROAD AND IN CAMBODIA CAN EFFECTIVELY CO OPERATE WITH OUR COMPATRIOTS TO REGAIN RIGHTS AND SOVEREINTY. I HOPE OUR KING IS BRAVE ENOUGH TO IMPLEMENT OUR CONSTITUTION AND COMMITTED TO HIS DUTY OF CARE FOR OUR KINGDOM TO LAST.

IN JEYVEROMAN VII ERA, HIS PEOPLE SUFFERINGS IS HIS SUFFERINGS.
