As founder and director of the group Afesip, Mam Somaly is actively fighting to bring an end to sexual exploitation.
Her group has rescued scores of women from brothels in Cambodia and has won numerous international awards along the way.
Founded in 1996, Afesip provides psychological counseling to young women rescued from brothels.
It also trains victims in trade skills like sewing and hairdressing to give them employment opportunities when they leave the counseling center.
Afesip has three centers, in Phnom Penh, Kampong Cham and Siem Reap, housing more than 200 women and girls, as well as one health clinic, Mam Somaly said Monday, as a guest on "Hello VOA."
In Cambodia, a girl can be sold by her family to a brothel or trafficker for as little as $150, Mam Somaly said.
"My organization has helped save nearly 4,000 victims and given them normal work," she said.

please help cambodia to protect women's rights and to encourage more women to join the national reconstruction. i think khmer women have been kept out of the limelight for so long already. it is time to elevate khmer women's status in politics. i would like to see the first khmer woman governor, or prime minister, in my life time. god bless cambodia.
Salute your efforts and rescue missions. Please keep up your fight for young Cambodian girls
"samnaem yoeng dey srey yoeng boros" (an ancient khmer saying meaning "like the rice seedlings held the earth from erosion, khmer women can help save their husband or men, in general, from emenent dangers"). basically, this old saying means "do not under-estimate a woman's ability, when push comes to shove."
remember the other khmer saying, too: "prolid dos chenh peh pok", or lotus grew out of the muddy bottom, but turn out a very beautiful flower that khmer people used for blessing the lord buddha. all of these saying by khmer ancestors were meant to honor khmer women.

but please not for Vietnam's young Vietnamese prostitutes as AFESIP did not before.
Please don't do it again.
Althouogh I applaud your audacious effort in rescuing these Cambodian prostitutes; however, please DO NOT rescue the Vietnamese whores (they can take care of themselves).
Hmm ... sounds like someone trying to reserve something for himself, LOL.

She is Ethiopian. She is beautiful at heart. That's all it matter! If I am single I'll take her as my wife.
Well, why can you have two wifes?
Having multiple wives is not a bad idea; however, can these retarded gorillas who live in ghetto neighborhoods able to affort such a privilege and opportunity (with the government subsidy)?
To be honest, my friend (1:33), the gorilla preferred Gay/lesbian over Polygamy. Sick isn't it?
It sounds like a disgusting personal preference.
