Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen, wife of Prime minister Hun Sen, called on the authority of the City of Phnom Penh, as well as other provincial and municipal authorities, to review night entertainment clubs which affect security and social order, as well as the national culture and custom. The Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper reported that Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen also called for a ban of the song “Som Bes Daung Muoy Chamnek” (Give me a portion of your heart) on TV stations, and an improvement on the wearing of extremely sexy clothes. Bun Rany made this request during a meeting of the national committee for the raising of the social moral conduct, the value of Cambodian women and Cambodian families, which took place on 31 January. Bun Rany requested the city authority to review the more than 100 nightclubs and to put under its grasp those nightclubs where incidents occur nonstop. She also requested the ministry of culture and the ministry of information to review the clothes worn by singers when they perform on scene, because these singers wear too revealing clothes, she also requested a ban on the song “Som Bes Daung Muoy Chamnek” because the lyrics in this song do not provide a good education to Cambodian women.

I totally agree with most comments above. Music usually reflects to society. Things do exist in the society, that was why the author wrote the song. So the person to be blame is her gangter husband. He is the one cause all of these to happens.

gov't should not regulate the entertainment industry. there ought to be a law forbidding gov't official and his family from having any power to control the entertainment industry as they please. gov't official should be ban from entering sex club, karaoke bar, video store, etc. this is how their wives get upset and try to use their husband power to control or curb the business. i wonder how in thailand they do it. i never heard there's any problem in thailand with sex club, bar,etc, in their entertainment business. there only seem to be problem in cambodia. why? i only assumption is probably the gov't official are the clients of such establishment and their wives aren't happy with it. what about tourists? i mean some tourist want to spend their money in the video store, karaoke bar, sex club, etc, too, beside visiting cultural sites. cambodia ought to leave it alone and leave it separate from the gov't. gov't shouldn't get involved in this business, let the police do their job. wives of gov't official shouldn't try to use their husband's power for to try to regulate this business. look inside how thailand do it. their gov't never get involved with this business. people in the business should protest the gov't to stay out of this business. otherwise, it would look like dictator again if only the same individuals tries to regulate this.

Please distinguish between giving advice to law enforcement from ordering people around when your a wive of a gov't official or what have you. Don't forget that there are lawful order and unlawful ones and got to be approved by the national assembly before becoming a law. So, ordering people around to yield to one's liking is not right. if this is allow, then it will look very bad in the public eyes. thus, a dictator is the right terms for such person. any request should be brought to the parliament for debate before becoming lawful order, can't just tell someone to one's penchant.
