The Sam Rainsy Party will hold its First National Congress for the SRP Youth Movement on Sunday 02 March, with the participation of 2,500 youths. Eng Chhai Eang, SRP Secretary-general, told the Kampuchea Thmei newspaper that this is the First National Congress for the SRP Youth Movement, and this congress is organized as part of the reform to prevent the defection of party members which took place not long ago. Eng Chhai Eang indicated that this congress will be scheduled for one full day, starting from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM. The congress will vote to select the Youth Movement delegate, and the Youth Movement general inspector for the party. Those who will be voted in to these positions will represent the voice of the SRP Youth Movement for the entire country, and will also occupy the position of deputy Secretary-general of the party. In response to the question as to whether the SRP will be affected in the upcoming election if important party members keep on defecting, Eng Chhai Eang said that the party will not be affected because the number of defectors is small in comparison to the number of new members joining the party which is so much more.

Preah Vihear will top the agenda of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej's official visit to Cambodia, starting Monday. A military source said the prime minister would talk to his Cambodian counterpart about jointly proposing the Preah Vihear Khmer temple ruins, called Khao Phra Viharn in Thai, as a World Heritage site since the two countries have yet to settle the border demarcation in that area which is located in Kantharalak district of Si Sa Ket.

Moreover, the Thai side believes the area that covers about 7.2 sq km should not be included in the area to be designated a World Heritage site.

Last year, Cambodia tried to register the site with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) alone. But the UN agency delayed its decision, urging the two countries to resolve the issue together.

''Due to the unsettled border, Cambodia cannot register the ruins alone. If Cambodia wants to apply for World Heritage status, the proposal should be jointly submitted with Thailand because the area is supervised by two countries.

''If Cambodia pushes on with its idea, it should not include the 7.2 sq km disputed area because it means Thailand might lose its sovereignty over the area in question,'' the source said.

Mr Samak's trip will follow a two-day official visit to Laos which begins today.

A meeting of the World Heritage committee will be convened from July 4 to 12 in Canada.

Oh Thank for the info, mate.

I am sure we will settle our conflict in a positive way with our brother Thai.

However, I don't think we'll make the july 4 meeting. These sort of thing just take a lot of time to process.

Bravo SRP Youth Movement!

New structure of this youth movement is the priceless incentive to prevail the strength and victory of Cambodian nation.

This is very historical Youth Congress that can pave a significant model to all Cambodian citizens.

If you are between 18 to 38 years old, you are youths who have high capacity to make a change in Cambodia. You are the agent of change. You are the Cambodian future catalyst, the progressive shaper, and the hope for Cambodian peoples and their nation.

Please, consider yourself to be part of SRP youth movement and modelize yourself as the world citizens who are full of:
1. Self-responsibility
2. Family-responsibility
3. National and international responsibility.

Well, I hope they will love their career as slaves or jobless beggars in Psa Tmey for not focusing on their school works. The CPP youth will kick their asses for all the good jobs, once they are out of school because they get much better grade and experiences from school projects.

Thanks, Ky, for your nice comment. I very much appreciate your patriotic idea. I 100% agree with you.

Wish you good luck and success!

I can tell you all, if someone has never been in the communist regime they have never knew excatly how the those communist did. What the SRP youth will to do is correct in order to opose the communist strategy. I was one of the communist cadre in Cambodia but I have hated this like pitch.

If a member of youth movement is elected then he/she will occupy the position of Deputy Secretary General, which currently held by Mrs. Mu Sochua. Is it meant that Mrs. Mu has been promoted or demoted to other position.

Never mind that, fucking SRP is destroying these youth future by turning them all to a lipservice based politicians instead of factual based politicians.

I can't see any future in that. What is a shame?
