PHNOM PENH — The Cambodian government said Wednesday that total foreign investments in 2007 were $2.7 billion, a figure barely half that of 2006's $4.3 billion.

Sok Chenda, secretary general of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, said the decline did not mean that last year's investment climate in Cambodia was worse than the previous year.

Okay, perhaps, this is a signal to backoff our business tax some more. Plus, we must not allowed any illegal and silly strikes. Everything must complied to the law. Anyone step out of line, throw his ass in PreySor; Don't even ask any question.

Fuck off? this above comment. The result should not be blamed to the strike but looks to gov't's working system. It's fucking deeply corrupt from first day 6 years old kid enrollment to first day at class.

The women workers, most of them are well educated, poor-bumpkin, are realy far better than gov't officials who get lest than $15 salary and never smart enough to protest for better off.

Plenty lazy gov't officials where no place to work rather than bogging down in casino.

Go to hell of those!

That is now come. Cambodia is having too much corrupt money. This country do not need investment. Let these gangs do what they want

The result should not be blamed on strike but corruption, 12:58?

FYI, Singapore doesn't have corruption problem, but they don't allowed people to strike. Why do you think that is, huh?

Their people are so there is no need to strike in Singapore...

Cambodian workers because they have to... I know Cambodians have a lot tolerance in regard to complaints but that turns out to be not healthy for them in the long run.

For those of you who don't understand economics. There are always spikes in investment, consumption, etc. Cambodia was seen as a great opportunity by many investors in 2005 so they came and invested heavily in 2006. When you have such a drastic increase it must level off or even decrease in the following periods. After all, there are only so many feasible projects in Cambodia. It will pick up again after the elections. Just wait.

Guys, I know we have corruption issue, but it is not a bad a opposition had put it. They only do that to make the government look bad. It's their job and we all know it.

Anyhow, there is no overnight solution to fix corruption, regardless of what opposition claimed. Louisiana had been, will be the most corrupted US state forever followed by Missoury or whatever. There is no quick fix for that. I don't care who the next US prez or governor will be.

As for strike, there are legal strike and illegal strike. While Singapore prohibited both,I can settle for legal strike, but don't think about illegal strike.

Furthermore, there will not be any riot and raid to destroy company's property in Cambodia. You do that, you better have a lot of money to pay for the damages and injuries.

There is nothing to be a shame of, mate. Good and bad people are everywhere, but don't make yourself look like a fool by denying it. Do you know what I mean?
