As Cambodian parliamentary election scheduled for July 2008 is drawing near, more and more politicians from the opposition are leaving the party.
Four additional senior officials from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party decided on Friday to defect their party and enter the ruling party CPP, making the total number of defectors so far to more than ten. They are Chao Phally, Ouk Meoung, Leng Thaly, and Hem Kolboth.
One of the defectors, Chao Phally, a former SRP's lawmaker, described the leadership of the Sam Rainsy party as dictatorial.
"The reason I left the party is that the party's leadership was against the democratic principles, disrespected the rules and internal regulations, and decided things according to the president and his groups. It did not make use of the real democracy. That is the reason I left the Sam Rainsy Party", said Chao Phally.
While SRP claims it is still doing fine, observers say the defection could somehow affect the party in the coming election.
"To my observation, it is not that serious. However, it could somehow affect the party as those senior officials are the core strength and the fact that they enter another party means they are still of some value to the party", said Koul Panha, director of COMFREL.

Oh well! AH CHAO PHALLY left one dictatorial party to join another dictatorial party! What kind a logic is this? What kind of reasoning is this? This guy is one of the most stupid politician on Earth! Let hope that AH HUN SEN dictator will listen to him this time!

After an election none of the defectors will have the job. Because CPP rather place their own
people at Parliment.
It is your political suicide. If you feel SRP is not democratic, it is hard to get the better one, but you join the worse. Obviously, you join the CPP for your personal interest not because of your principle. Your real principle is money, title, and power.
SRP sounds like you need to clean up your inside if you are going to be able to help the Cambodian people.
Maybe start first with resignation of Mr. Eang Chai Eng? Secretary Steering Committee? whatever his position is. Prominent people are against him because of his bad personal restraint in gambling issues in the past.
We want transparent and clean representatives. We don't want anyone gambling with our lives anymore like the CPP are doing
These defectors didn't get what they wanted (money, high position) they do not stand firm for freedom. This is good as the SRP are now doing some major cleaning up. We dont need bad people in the party anyways.

SRP is dictatorship but you can discuss and it server for the national interest. The other party server the indochina foderation? Where ist Khmer people????
5:14 PM you are right. SRP or Sam Rainsy is dictatorship like. But he serves for Cambodian's interest. And CPP is serving Hanoi's interest. That is soo stupid. Believe me HUN SEN will never trust people who recently join them. Since he knows these peopel have the attitude of betraying the leader already. HUN SEN will pull them out once CPP wins the election.
Consider this politicains!! Be aware of being lured into a political trap, specifically when luxury and power are being offered. I can assure that you will not acknowledge your involvement in corruption and power abuses because you have been indoctrinated(brainwashed). You're being authorized to propagating their political dominance.
