The Cambodia Daily reported in today’s edition that Prime minister Hun Sen would provide free coffins to those who want to invade Vietnam to reclaim back the territory of Kampuchea Krom (South Vietnam) which was lost to Vietnam in 1949. The Cambodia Daily quoted Hun Sen as saying: “Some people have claimed that they want to reclaim Kampuchea Krom. Please do it if you can … I am not able to do it, but I will give you coffins and help to bury your corpses. You invade another country and they will attack you.” Venerable Yoeung Sin, President of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Monks Association, said that he is not intimidated by Hun Sen’s declaration, and he would continue to work on the demand for the return of Kampuchea Krom back. Thach Setha, Director of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Community said that the return of the Kampuchea Krom territory should be resolved by the Cambodian government, but that Hun Sen’s speech amounted to a threat against Khmer Krom people. “He threatened people. These are not words of a leader,” The Cambodia Daily quoted Thach Setha.

As a leader of a nation, Hun Sen should not speak these words to the public. It just shows how ignorance he is. If he can't do it, let some one else do it. As a leader, he should refrain from using insult and intimidate words toward his own people.
this is not an easy issue. what is cambodia suppose to do, go to war with vietnam? i don't think this is the solution! work something out is better. the way, i see this is to get a world war III started in order to make such claim. blame the french, the weak kings of that time, the vietnamese gov't, etc..., we might have to get the world's super power involved in this.
Hun Sen's political rhetoric about this border issue is clear for us to understand his standing point of view and political career. He is self-esteemed to say and act whatever that he can manipulate his own citizens (Cambodian peoples). But when Hun Sen faces with international countries, especially Cambodia's neighbors, he has always admitted defeat.
Looking at this attitude of Hun Sen's leadership by comparing with the leaders of other countries, we can surely assume that:
1. A good leader should value their own citizens and nation. Though sometime, our citizens are so proud and aggressive, we should not intimate or downgrade them with any kind of speech or threat. Leaders should avoid not to value foreigners as superior than their own citizens. In reality, Cambodian peoples are not aggressive. Cambodian peoples are peace-lover. But often, their sentiment towards neighboring countries is accurate because they have clearly seen that Cambodia land gradually become smaller and smaller. Current leader has only oppresses them not to think about their border or territory integrity.
2. Good leader is smart to keep good international relations with other countries, but it is in a different relationship manner with their own citizens. Does Hun Sen's leadership is articulating in this way?
Cambodian peoples are not only banned from public demonstration to express their freedom to criticize their leaders, Cambodian peoples are also currently banned and threated not to express their freedom and nationalism to protect their own motherland and territory integrity.

As a Khmer-Krom myself, I would not want to see war between Cambodia and Vietnam. And I do not advocate for a drastic solution that could lead to violent breakdowns.
What I want as a Khmer-Krom from Vietnam is the right to be recognized as indigenous in my own ancestor's land, then from that right I want the protections that are ensured to indigenous people that are recognized in international law.
I want the same right to have as I would have if I live in Cambodia as a Cambodian citizen, the right to vote, the right to participate and be elected if I shall choose, the right to form my own party, the right to use my land as I see fit and preserve them , the right to learn my own language. Etc.
These are the rights that are guarantee to indigenous people according to international law. This will fulfilled my wish for freedom for Kampuchea-Krom.
But we know Vietnam won't do that easily. Vietnam has a one state policy, and any attempt to proclaim your indigenous heritage are countered with charge of anti-government and separatist movements based on the argument of this one state policy. Absurd.
Oppression comes cloaked in many different names. One state policy and anti-terrorism is just two of them.

That is true that Hun Sen is expressing like he is one of the Ho Chi Minh's children who is working to achieve Indochina Federation.
Of course, Cambodian peoples don't want the land in Angkorean period back, but they want to protect the continuing encroaching of their neighbors (they are so aggressive); and especially the puppet leaders should change their attitude not to maintain their puppet manner anymore.

I believe there will be a time when there will be a window of opportunity to reclaim some land back from Vietnam but we have to play it smart for now because the of state Cambodia and Cambodians oversea right now is premature, since we're rebuilding the country and the regrouping. Being that said everyone from Khmer-Krom,Khmer overseas,all the parties in Cambodia are playing their roles in reaching our Ultimate goal and that is regainning back our pride as a nation that was deprived from it.

As all of you probably know, when Prime Minister Hun Sen speaks, he tends to speak with much more of a colloquial tone rather than a formal tone as evident when one listens to him during his speeches and comments to reporters. I'm not a supporter of Hun Sen, but the Khmer Krom issue is a very sensitive matter with Vietnam and the regime in Hanoi does all it can to down-play Khmer Krom human rights violations, and we all know Hun Sen tries to avoid this matter as much as possible to not "infringe" on the Cambodia-Vietnam "friendship".
