The sandals with the picture of Angkor Wat printed on them have been discovered put on sale in Vietnam's Krayov market in Tay Ninh province. Although it is not yet found out whether these sandals were produced in Vietnam it is seen that these controversial sandals were sold on Vietnamese soil. Therefore, like it or not, the source of these sandals must be in Vietnam. However, according to a report from the information office of Svay Rieng province, it is suspected that these sandals were made in Thailand before they were exported to Vietnam.
Although the report of the Hun Sen authorities placing suspicion on Thailand as the site of the production of these sandals is just a guess it gives the impression that the authorities of the Hun Sen regime do not suspect Vietnam as the venue of the production of these controversial sandals. Is this part of the effort by the Hun Sen authorities to help prevent the Vietnamese company or Vietnamese producers from being accused of printing the image of Angkor Wat on the sandals, which constitutes a gross insult to the Khmer nation?
It is not known on which basis the Hun Sen authority officials have relied in forming this suspicion on Thailand as the country of origin of these controversial sandals. Let us Khmer as a whole ponder a little to see whether these controversial sandals were produced in Thailand before they were placed on sale at a market in Vietnam. Vietnam is a country with an industry almost as developed as Thailand's, and Vietnamese products nowadays are put on sale all over the world, not just on the Cambodian market alone. Therefore, it is capable of producing mere sandals and does not need to import such a product from abroad like Cambodia under Hun Sen's leadership. Therefore, is it reasonable to suspect that these controversial sandals originated from Thailand?
Saying this does not mean that we are trying to protect Thailand. What we want, however, is the truth about which company of which country has made these controversial sandals. The careless suspicion voiced by the Hun Sen authority officials without seeking clear proof not only does not help to expose the one who made fun of Angkor Wat but can also provoke problems with a country that probably has not done it.
It is still fresh in many people's memory that when the anti-Thai demonstration led to the sacking and burning of the Thai embassy and business interests in Cambodia, there were rumors that Vietnam's secret agents were the ones who burned down the Thai embassy to sow conflict between Cambodia and Thailand so as to facilitate the influx of Vietnamese goods into the Cambodian market. It is wondered why at that time the Hun Sen authorities did not have the same suspicion [against Vietnam] as the rumors did? Why the Hun Sen authorities now are so quick at have a suspicion [against Thailand]?
This is not surprising because the controversial sandals came out of Vietnam; therefore, like it or not, the Hun Sen authorities must say anything that would protect Vietnam. Therefore, the Hun Sen authorities cannot stay mum, saying nothing, for should they take no action it would appear that the Cambodian rulers are siding with those who insult the Khmer. We believe that although the Hun Sen authority officials tried their best to shift the suspicion on another country, no one would believe them. If these sandals were made in Thailand, they would not be sold in Vietnam only; they certainly would be seen placed on sale in other countries as well. Vietnam does not share a common land border with Thailand. Therefore, if these sandals were produced in Thailand, they should have come to Cambodia first before reaching Vietnam. This baseless suspicion is proof to show that the officials of the Hun Sen regime dare not seek the truth in order to protect the dignity of Angkor Wat and the dignity of the Khmer nation. The sandals that are insulting to Cambodia were clearly seen on sale in Vietnam, why not suspecting that they were made in Vietnam? This clearly is the nature of the Vietnamese puppets!

Yes! Vietcong puppet AH HUN SEN since 1979! It doesn't matter how much AH HUN SEN want to protect his Vietcong boss and the truth will come out!
Simple logic points to the obvious. The spelling of "Kampuchea" is even spelled wrong, and is spelled in a way a foreigner would translate in their own language.

I am agree that both can produce sandals. But If a criminal has killed someone, will he put the body of the victim in front of his house?
I think he will put it far away from his house.
We also have to know that the thaicong always want Angkor Wat.
So I think the producer of this sandals is the thaicong.
Once again Thailand Made the sandale and sell in Vietnam, therefore Thai and Viet want Khmer to fight with both of them.
Who knows? We are being sandwiched by these two nations. If I were HUN SEN I rather draw investors to come in hep Cambodia so these two countries can't flood their products into our country. What a shame! Look at Saddam Hussein under his rule at least IRAQ can do almost anything by themself. Hun Sen took control Cambodia almost the same time as Sadam Hussein but we really didn't see anything progress. I hope he can pull in more investors fast so THAI and VIET don't pour in alot of stuffs into our country. WTO? In order to do fair trade they must put in stuffs and allow us to pour stuffs into their country too. If they don't allow it "tough luck" we can deal with other nations such Philipines and Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore..etc. Come on HUN SEN wake up please!
These two nations has been an instigators for Cambodia for centuries. Remember, when the Khmer's king as the reinforcements from Vietnam to fight Thailand, Vietnam always gain the advantage over Khmer. Then when the Khmer's king afterward ask the favors to fight the Vietnam, the Thai always gain something (lands) from us. We've got to learn this, cause this problem always haunt us. We don't let this to happen again and again. Whenever we got into war we always lost something. Please take it serious before we make decision. This is national interest we can't just let that happens. I hope one day HUN SEN wakes up and think about national interest more and turn his head and bite his master. And tell them we don't want them to get involve Cambodian affairs.

Both Thailand and Vietnam are considering that Cambodians are barbarous idiot that can be easily fooled out. Any turmois going in Cambodia always benefit those two countries in terms of commercial goods and tourist industy because Cambodia now is an dependent state to hem.
Unable to penetrate the ambushed Banteay Long Vek which was defended bu thick bamboo walls, the Thai pumped the silver coins in and the Khmer cleared that bamboo to get the silver, made the way for the Thai to loote what was the most precious Khmer historic documents. Etc...
From VN side: They call Khmer Cao Mien which means " hifglander." The Nguyen dynasty, emperor of a unified ans strong Vietnam, considered that the gods had chosen them to bring the light of civilization to the Hiduized and relatively feeble kindom of Cambodia. Contemptuous of the Khme inability to assimilate the Sino-Vienamese culture, Vietnamese emperor described Khmer as " monkey in pens and birds in cage. " in 1840 Emperor Minh Mang was furious about Cambodian rebellions against Vietnam's civilizing mission. Shocked at the Khmer actions,, which he considered treacherous, he wrote to his commander in chief in Cambodia," We helped them when they were suffering, and lifted them out the mud( just like the VN came to helped the KR taking power in 1975 save us from the KR in 1979, and later on the KR fought them back to reclaim Koh Tral and Kampuchea Krom ???)...Now they are rebellious( just like when the nationalist Khmer were reunited at the Thai border to fight back to liberate Cambodia form them after their occupation that hey have to withdraw in1998???). i say the same. have concrete evidence before one jump to a conclusion. given the world of cambodian political culture, one has to be wary of accusation. in the US, 'innocent unless proven guilty.' and it goes with everything else in cambodia, not just this sandal issue.
I remember reading our history back during Troeung Minh Yang was in Phnom Penh and was sent to control Cambodia by the Vietnamese king. During that time Cambodia was weak already. Troeung Minh Yang and his man control almost everything from the King of Cambodia down to low levels. But one reason to make Cambodia stood srong back then was surprise the the Vietnamese general (Troeung Ming Yang). Like old Khmer's say: when the water reaching the nose then we start to realize it. All cambodian back then stood up hands to hands, shoulders to shoulders rebeled agains the Vietnamese occupation and defeated them in Phnom Penh. You know what that place was called back then? In our Khmer words as Rondao Kop Youn = The Youn' burial ground. Nowaday this place is called Stoeung Meanchey or the Victory River. I bet the Vietnamese knew this better than is also. Afterward defeated this Vietnamese general killed himself. They looked so terrible and defeated. I'm telling you back then our population less than a million and we were strong. Consider now, we are really giving them headache. Please stand up my fellow Khmer.

Husen will protect anything related to Viet Nam. Maybe, next time Viet Nam will put the king picture on it.I still do not think Husen will protect the king and shame on the king, as well. I never see the king makes any noises on the the nation's issues.

i don't think that cambodian people in their right mind wanted to depend on the thai and viet for anything. maybe in the dark period of cambodian history when the old kings fight one another, then woulk look for help from the thai or youn for military help was once true, but i don't think it is true again in modern cambodia when we have so much access to the world beyond the siem and youn borders, it would be unthinkable to have to ask the thai and viet for assistance again when the royal family are fighting one another. so don't think cambodia want to be like the dark age again. modern cambodia rather look for any military assistance (good to have ally from around the world) from the USA, Europe, Japan, China, etc than thai and youn. cambodia don't think siem and youn are that strong militarily and mentally. in fact there people are not that different from a weak cambodia.
