Hun Sen to cling to power one more term as he wants to see the future of Cambodian oil

Prime minister Hun Sen expressed his confidence that he will win the election to remain as prime minister in 2008, and this victory will allow him to continue his watch on the future of Cambodian oil and gas which have not been extracted out from the underground yet so far.

Hun Sen made this declaration in the 2nd conference on outlook in Cambodia organized in the morning of 28 February, at the Phnom Penh Hotel.

Hun Sen said that the concerns expressed by a number of countries and development partners of Cambodia are too much worries when Cambodian oil and gas is yet to be extracted out of the underground. Hun Sen said that some partners talked about oil curse or oil blessing which took place in Nigeria, and they compared that situation to the one in Cambodia because of corruption.

A number of donor countries and large international organizations claimed that if there is no equitable distribution of revenue from oil exploration, this is tantamount to oil curse for the country. This situation occurs in a number of oil rich countries, but their people still remain poor and no development is taking place in these countries.

Regarding the oil curse issue, Hun Sen claimed that situation in Nigeria is different from that of Cambodia: “Now, we should talk about trying to get larger revenue, this is better than talking about revenue from oil which is still (to be extracted from the) underground.”

Hun Sen claimed also that he hopes “to win the election and remain the prime minister in 2008,” this will allow him to continue his watch on the future of Cambodian oil and gas, and also it will allow him to see those who teach Cambodia how to “spend” the oil “money.”

In its extraordinary congress held in January 2008, the CPP unanimously selected Hun Sen to be the party PM candidate for the upcoming general election. The CPP said that it is determined to obtain 81 seats among the total number of 123 seats at the National Assembly in the upcoming July 2008 election. In the current legislative mandate, the CPP now holds 73 seats at the National Assembly.

It's a wishful dreaming for Hun Sen.
All Khmers are ready to stand up & fight the Evil.

I don't see his comment is wrong. It is just his wish. People have right to vote or not to vote for CPP if they don't want to see Hun Sen in post. I don't think war will occur if peple don't vote for him. If people still vote for CPP and CPP accepts him as PM candidate, he is always legitimate Cambodian prime minister.
Good Luck CPP.
Try your best, opposition parties.

Yeah, that is what you said 15 years ago, which is meaningless.

The truth is PM will ruled until he's 120. We won't let him quit ever.

First and foremost, I have no doubt in my mind that our Samdach Hun Sen will win the upcoming general election in July of this year by a landslide victory.

I'd like to propose a forum-chat room creation for this website, thus allow us to articulate and convey our convictions and principles to these retarded gorillas.

If you're unable to do that, all of you retarded gorillas are not ready for prime time debate.

Again, if you think you can articulate your philosophical and edeological principles -- we dare you to create a forum-chat room ... we'll debate you. And, we say: bring it on!

Anonymous said...

Well, the gorilla can't debate because of language issue. They only know a few words (Vietcong, Ah HO, Ah Kwack, Do mai, ...). I don't think you can make out what they want to say. So what is the use, mate?

5:49 PM

That's what I thought!

I was hoping to have a live debate with these retarded gorillas.

Anonymous said...

Oh well, I guess not all hope will come true all the time, but there is nothing to gain or lost from debating with gorilla, if you ask me.

If you want to read a blog with educated and objective opinions go to www.about-cambodia.blogspot.com.

Being a gorilla, which generally seems to mean an oversea Khmer person or one who is pro-democracy, I would like to debate you all.

But having status of kings of the jungle already, why should I demote myself to debating lower beast such as hyenas and other chke preys?

I couldn't talk any sense into them. They have a thing for greed and savagery that shows up even in their eating habit. Its impossible and unthinkable to talk to those animal.

King Kong rules
sorry little crickets

My personal view: I'm not surprised a bit to hear Hun Sen wants to keep Prime minister(PM)post fro himself. He would not only want to keep himself with PM but if he can, he wants to be KING and Prime Minister altogether. Buy one get one freeeeee!!!!!!!

Go ahead make Hun's day. Prophercy said Hun's charmluck at all times high these days, but there is time that HUN's charmluck will be spiral down hill after reaching the top.

He has been spending money to build more Buddha status to elevate his charmluck these days.

One whole building at Hun's Tiger-Cage bodyguard barrack is full of spirits bras and all so-called powerful magical relics. There are at least half dozens fortune tellers both Khmer, Chinese, and Indian.

WHO'LL BE IN CHARGE IN CAMBODIA IN 2008 (AND ANOTHER 100 YEARS)?

Answer: "...The ruling party rules! Of course, Samdach Hun Sen will inarguably and unquestionably be in charge in Cambodia till he decideds to retire ... then Manath can take over..."

His family existence in Cambodian society depends on his power. Without power, his family will be in danger (too many enemies). He will rule Cambodia for more years to come. And when he is unable to, he will make his son his successor.

Yummy Yummy Cambodia oil and gas. How can Hun Sen give up this upcoming opportunity?

Long live Royal family of Hun Sen

i think one more term for mr. hun sen, if he can win the election, is fair enough, as long as he doesn't become so prime minister greedy or fidel castro want-to-be. i think i'm fine with it for just one more term only. fair enough, given he won the next election, though. then, someone else ought to get a chance to be the prime minister of cambodia; someone new, that is! so this way, it will be fair for every single khmer people as nobody, in their right mind, wants a dictator type of gov't.

having said this, allow me to mention the 1st president of the US, mr. george washington (getting into US history stuff, here). president george washington was liked so much my the original 13 colonies of the beginning of the birth of the USA nation that the american citizen even wanted him to back a king of the new american states, not to mention they even want him to be a president for life, but mr. george washington refuse to do so by proclaiming that he should only be allowed to be president for two terms only. as a result of his personal decission(what a great statesman he was), he wanted to set a good example for all future presidents of the united states of america to follow in his footsteps. and ever since, all presidents of the USA only ran for two terms and two terms only because of mr. george washington vision into the future and his personal sacrafice for the good of all americans (one exception is president franklin delanor roosevelt who was the only US president to run for a third term and won, i guess it was during the time of war(world war II), though). so, i hope cambodia can learn from the great president george washington of the united states of america. i think he is one of the greatest president of the USA. thank you!

Anonymous said...

Disagreed. We do not worshiped anything from the US here.

In term of PM, anyone intelligence enough to defeat the incumbent ruler fair and square is welcome. If they can do it in the comming election, fine, if they can do it in the following election, that is fine also.... There is no restriction, but there will not be any switching for the fun of it. We will destroyed our country if we switched to less qualified candidate for any reason.

Anonymous said...

we want someone who is well-educated with world view and who is an intelligent and the champion of the people of cambodia, and don't forget one with fierce national interest as well. and of course, someone with a great vision for cambodia without being a racist, a dictator, but someone who deserves a lot of respect by the majority of cambodian people in general. and also, someone who want real reforms in all cambodia!!!! i'm sure someone like that is out there somewhere!!!

Anonymous said...

No, actually you want someone with gorilla education to run our country and to destroy it like you did in the past. I doubt that anyone will approved that.

If Hun Sen wins the 2008 Khmer general election, Cambodia will be shrinking to just the size of a pond in your backyard.

11:03 PM

Come on, gorilla! Get real!

I think you're paranoid and dilusional. You need to wake up and smell Cambodian coffee (if you don't like Columbian coffee).

I have no doubt that Samdach Hun Sen will win the upcoming general election.

Size of a pond is still bigger then zero when Sam Rainsy win, wouldn't you think, 11:03?
