The political defection affair never ceases to end the tension between the CPP and its opponents. The latest dispute: a letter sent by SRP MP Son Chhay complaining about the practice used by Hun Sen, followed by a sharp reply from the latter.
“I need competent people to work. I promoted those who join our party. The more you criticize (me), the more you want me stop this practice, and the more I will persist in this direction. It’s my right as prime minister.” Hun Sen just replied very firmly to his detractors, and most of all to Son Chhay, the SRP MP who criticized him for offering several advisor positions to SRP defectors. This position has the prerogative and the rank equivalent to that of a secretary of state, or even that of a minister.
Hun Sen’s assertion was made on Thursday 21 February, during his travel to Kandal province to inaugurate a construction site for bridges and pagodas. In a letter dated 20 February, Son Chhay officially requested Hun Sen to put an end to these nominations.
Son Chhay wrote: “In this third mandate, these promotions are very numerous. They involve businessmen, government officials and defectors from other parties who join the CPP.”
Son Chhay explained that several ministers had “complained” about the appearance of these advisors. According to these ministers, these advisors turn the decision making process more difficult in some cases. Son Chhay also indicated in his letter that the authorities noted that these advisors are using their position to commit illegal activities. Beside these arguments, it seems that the only goal of Son Chhay’s letter was to put to an end to the nomination of defectors from his party, who left to grab advisor positions.
The SRP-CPP war regarding the defectors is far from over, especially since Son Chhay asked that Hun Sen’s list of advisors be made publicly available to the National Assembly. It is most likely that the Hun Sen would not follow suit to Son Chhay’s request.

The dog, HUN XEN is being nervous of lossing vote supporters, so he tries to use his corrupt money and a shorterm position to lure other parties mebers in order to confuse Cambodian people that they are still very strong. But in fact he is being affraid and sleepless very night.

I doubt very much that he needs the so called competent people to with him! I know for a fact that Hun Sen has countless advisors right now who are currently working for him and still his government doesn't make any kind of progress for Cambodia!
The fucken problem with Hun Sen government is that his so called "advisor" are feeding him the wrong information unless they have million and billion of dollars to back up what the hell they are talking about! A good example would the South Korean new president who used to be Hun Sen economic advisor and he was able to back up his words with his Korean investment in Cambodia and you can say that the rest of the so called advisors are just blowing a lot of hot air!
As far as I am concerned these Sam Rainsy defectors are nothing but an actor in HUN SEN magic show and at the end of the show and they will disappear like smoke in the air the same way like all other defectors joining the CPP who came before them!
The magic show is about to begin so please take a seat and hold on tight because HUN SEN the magician is about to make these Sam Rainsy defectors disappear in thin air and not just disappear in thin air but also disappear from political and public life!
By the way being a dictator with a fake PhD, Hun Sen needs people to work for him not with him! So to all of you smart people out with degree including PhD and if you want Hun Sen to put your brain into good use and this is the time and let hope he won't make you disappear like the rest of the defectors! Ahahhahahhahahh
What Hun Sen said is forest like man. He forgets what position he is. Sen should reacts politely and carefully. He is primier of the country. He got post from people, he use Khmer citizens'money to run his government. When he said it is his rights to appoint useless advisors to goverment, it is not fair and accountable to people. Hun Sen is primier of the country, not primier of CPP so what you are doing is not for people, for your group and your communist CPP only. The crazy act of Hun Sen is the act of aminals.
I guess Hun Sen is a brilliant politician. He knows exactly what it takes to stay in power and to fuel is dictatorship.
If Hun Sen can offer such positions to the opposition party’s members (CPP, FUNC,etc) to defect, why can't the opposition parties do the same to attract the politicians from CPP?
I guess it's all boiled down to a promise of power and money. A sense of security in a political position in Cambodia's government or is it a peace of mind for personal wealth?
If this trend of defection continue, seemingly only from opposition parties to CPP, how will the opposition parties ever win enough (manipulated) votes to take control of Cambodia? What is the chance for Sam Rainsy to be a Prime Minister of Cambodia? Probably slim to none.
Who are we to blame? Hun Sen for proposing handsome positiona and incentives for the defectors? or the defectors for not being loyal to their party?
I think those so called defectors weren't working for a better Cambodia but rather for their own opportunity to sign up with CPP.
I'm sure there are still countless members in the opposition parties are awaiting for the right moment to join CPP.
As far as i know, there is a huge number of advisors to Hun Sen, but it doesn't seem to fill up his demand. It maybe that his current advisors are not competent enough to give many good ideas to him to intensify his corrupt activities in this country. That is why he now needs many more from the opossition party to help him.
I have heard that many Hun Sen's advisors use this tittle to menace ordinary poeple and get involved in dishonest trade. Some even bribed for this tittle in the aim to show off and scare others.
If we look at some developed countries, their leaders have less advisors than Hun Sen, but they can develope their countries to achieve prosperity.
With a great number of advisors being paid to provide good ideas for the country's development, the prime minister of Cambodia has brought very little to the country. On the contrary, he is making very big progress with great wealth for himself and his group,showing a big gap between the rich and the poor.
This is what the Cambodian govenment is practising.
I believe that if you take this event to consider, you will all see the fact of the current Cambodia leader.

Sorry to pick on you Mr.Leang Delux, I understand your situation but I want some fact out!
I heard Hun Sen replied to Mr. Son Chay's letter from his own (Hun Sen) voice from Radio Free Asia.
It's alot worst than what you just reported. One setense that sock me was " why you care about there are Nation's Money and is my right to do wath I want now as a prime minister" ( may not exacly like that but close to it, please listen to RRF 02/21/08)

1st it is the wrong and unprofessional to send letter in the 1st place.
2nd, the letter seemed to heavy weight on position given by the CPP to defectors rather than other motive regarding the number of adviser the PM have [or any party should have] which in turn will be coming out from the national budget.
Instead of tit for tat action, SRP party shall look into issues how to solve its internal affairs, how to strengthen its members and the new strategic plans for up coming election; which will help them to secure more seats in NA rather than go after those people defected to other party.
Time is running out, the election is just around the corner.

-The Problem with Khmer people is that we like to think we are better than that other guy or that group. No one ever looks in the mirror and realize "Who the fuck am I to criticize others while I myself have not done anything that would make me better than them? Even if it is free speech, there is another thing called ethic and respect.
